23 degs C seems to be the norm quoted by most weather organisations for this
coming Wednesday. The jet stream course is quite obscure this summer, dipping
down very low to the south of Europe....not seen this before. Explains why
our summer temperatures are below normal...sucking down the cool Arctic air
over the UK and parts of France. These jet stream wind speeds are maintaining
quite high velocities at the present so the low pressure fronts from the North
Atlantic are forcing the high pressure fronts from the Mid Atlantic to drift
eastwards and over the southern continent. The jet stream plays a major part in
the UK's weather patten, summer especially, and when this stream runs south
across the southern parts of the UK or even lower we tend to get poor summers.
All though, under these conditions if the jet stream wind velocities are low,
in the region of 200 mph, this does give a greater chance for the mid-Atlantic
high pressure fronts to move up higher and reach the southern parts of the UK
as occurred several weeks ago when we had several days of nice sunny weather.

A couple days ago, the prediction for today was upper 80s, the warmest day so far.... this month. However, this morning they are only saying it will be about 83-84, with a 20% chance of scattered storms.

Last night, to sleep I had to turn the AC up to 80 (which seems to make the actual temperature in here about 70). It was too cold before that.

This morning, while crawling along the M6 in Birmingham the weather forecaster said "Its a bright sunny morning in the Midlands, with the odd chance of a light shower, and the temperature is about 14 or 15C". At that point in time it was hammering it down with rain, visibility was poor (mist/fog), and the external temperature gauge was showing about 10C. Now I can but ask which planet the man (I ave to assume it was a human) was talking about... What chance have hey got predicting the weather if they can't get the current reading right?

So we got the upper 80s after all. 90 in Racine, but the cold front was not far away: at the same time it was 90 in Racine, it was 78 in Milwaukee. They're still saying low 70s tomorrow.

-4C here this morning getting to a top of 13C (40kms south has recorded the coldest temps in the whole country) so if I get some time I may get to find a happy overclock for my 2500K.

Cheers.

Last night at O'Hare:

7pm: 83F
9pm: 63F

Then it gently ramped down to the current 57. I turned off the air and opened the window before bed.

Oh, and it's foggy. They say it's thick downtown, some at O'Hare. None this far out, just clouds.
