I get a driver downclock on the GTX580 video card when doing Seti wu's, from 772MHz to 405MHz, short of restarting the PC everytime this happens or installing a different driver(installing takes about 10 minutes) I've used Boinc 7.0.62 and 7.0.28, I have 6.10.58 and I'm out of gpu wu's, I may have to uninstall boinc to go back to 6.10.58, since I'm not sure if 6.10.58 did this or not. I've tried drivers from 266.58 to 314.22 all have downclocked and some have crashed various programs on the PC here. Of course I'm running under Win7 x64 sp1, 266.58 for example runs the video card at 51MHz while working on S@H I've found. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

That's usually the sure sign that something on the card is getting to hot. Cheers. |

That's usually the sure sign that something on the card is getting to hot. Of course the card never gets above 76C at most on the GTX580 card, usually I see 71-72C while crunching. Of course the 120x25mm fan is running flat out at 3400rpm @ about 113.11cfm and does not show up in gpu-z 0.70 at all. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Ok I'm back to good old 6.10.58 x64 and without any cpu work the gpu is staying at 99% more of the time too, the 580 gpu temp is currently at 61-69C. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I wonder what is the right gpu voltage for a 815MHz GTX580 card? Right now the card is at 1.013v. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

nVIDIA do have the standard spec's listed on their site Vic. I can tell you that my old GTX560Ti started freaking out when it hit 74C but how that relates to its bigger brother I can't really say. Cheers. |

nVIDIA do have the standard spec's listed on their site Vic. I looked up the specs for a stock GTX580 Here, 97C max for the gpu, interesting, but no idea on the voltage as that's not stated there. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Check out early reviews on the spec versions as most will have a GPUz shot showing it, if not then a table. Cheers. |

Problem is this is the Zotac Infinity Edition GTX580, I've seen lots of announcements, but no reviews, just an overview on youtube, Here(Newegg). Check out early reviews on the spec versions as most will have a GPUz shot showing it, if not then a table. Well I just had a downclock to 405MHz, the gpu temp was 73C, not exactly overheating, as the temp isn't near the 97C max for the 580 gpu, also Nvidia's Titan suffers from this and it may be connected, maybe. So I went from 314.21 to 320.00 on the driver. Gpu-z says the vddc is 0.990v, that's odd as I set that at 1.025v, now I set the volts at 1.05v, gpu-z says 1.014v now. Now at 1.075v in Afterburner and 1.037v in gpu-z, strange. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

It could be the memory or power chips causing the problem but I get worried when any of my GPU's get near the high 60C's personally. Don't look for a review of your model, just the 1's that nVIDIA sent out themselves as test/review samples. ;-) [EDIT]BTW you'll notice that I longer use the 560Ti due to the need to keep an eye on its temps during warm weather.[/Edit] Cheers. |

It could be the memory or power chips causing the problem but I get worried when any of my GPU's get near the high 60C's personally. I did find this on the nvidia forums Here, they mention voltages and one guy was nervous about temps above 72C, I do need a better case, I may look into a Corsair 800D case, if I can find one in June, for the 800D's unobstructed top 3 fan holes, the 3rd hole where the 580 has it's radiator is partly blocked by the plastic part of the 932 case, so My temps might be skewed higher than they should be, I may have to redo the current setup, to get the gpu radiator and cpu radiator into better unobstructed positions, there goes a few hours, maybe Wednesday I'll see about that, maybe, as it depends on how I feel, if I can do the work on Wednesday or not. Try this 1 and you can skip the gaming benchmarks but the rest does point out all you need I think. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4008/nvidias-geforce-gtx-580 Cheers. |

Try this 1 and you can skip the gaming benchmarks but the rest does point out all you need I think. I'll try that, I did have another downclock as mentioned in this quote, I complained to nvidia too, maybe that will do something. At 6:16am according to Boinc I had a downclock on the new driver v320.00 to 405MHz, the gpu temp was 58C since I had the window open and the blower fan on at night(an evaporative cooler with the water pump not on), the drivers are panicking over nothing, some drivers, I can't find any driver that works right, it's reboot or reload another driver all the time and I'm getting so tired of this, nvidia's drivers are starting to SUCK while doing cuda as they are BUGGY! 15 mins doesn't prove their stable, not even 12 hours will do, only 24 hours at the very least will do. I'm using 310.70 right now, which will eventually have a downclock, heck 266.58 will downclock to 51MHz automatically when cuda starts, which is weird and yeah that's an example as that's an old driver, I think Nvidia would be better off if the driver could not downclock, EVER, or just have that as as option in the Nvidia control panel [x] or something... I can get downclocks if I push the overclock on one of my cards too much. Now that I know the new operating point, it is fine. I have one running at 871 MHz, and the other running at 857 MHz. Stock is 700 MHz. All voltages are at max, and temps stay below 60°C. Steve Edit: Sometimes I can get a downclock from running Einstein, but that seems to be code related. Seti is totally stable. I've started to disconnect usb devices, why? So I can move a fan and 2 radiators, one for the cpu and one for the gpu, so that they'll be unobstructed, My next case will be a used 800D, I'm watching one right now that looks good and doesn't have the interior shelf anymore(yay!), but I can't buy one until June since I don't want to take out another payday loan, at least not right now. I've got the gpu set ay 1.075v. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Well I installed 310.70 WHQL on this PC yesterday and it crunched all night without a single downclock, I still plan to install a 130cfm 120x38mm fan and relocate another fan to the top front of the case later today. Oh and I say 310.70 WHQL as there is a 310.70 Beta too, which I have not used at all. The last temps I saw before finally heading off to bed were 60-62C, not bad for a 113.11cfm 120x25mm fan, in the daytime this was about 68-71C when crunching. If I can get the Zotac Infinity Edition down to about 58C with the 130cfm fan, then I could probably raise the gpu back to it's stock 815MHz speeds, from the 772MHz speed that the GTX580 is now set at. I see you say your using the 310 driver . I have had issues with not using the latest drivers .Not shore if it detects there is a new driver and then I get weird things happening . Had big prob's with driver 298 -309 . The 314 latest not beta version's seems to run great if ya get any more prob's I would go straight to the 314 diver . Nvdia update in control panel for gpu is wot I believe has caused my issues as it seems to know when there is a upgraded driver something to think about |

Before this time I had a crash with 310.70 WHQL had downclocked to 405MHz, so this is as good as 314.22 or 320.00, too bad it held the most promise, I've tested quite a few of the drivers from 266.58 to 320.00. I never load the part that looks for the upgrades, it's not needed, Google does very well. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
