Here we go again.... I remember, a couple months ago, a thread here talking about which SETI URL BOINC needs to use to communicate with the SETI servers. I don't believe that I could convince anyone that my communications with SETI works just fine with the following URL: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/ I will see what I can do about finding the thread and posting a link to it here. OK, I found the thread about the project URL. Just happens to be titled "Project URL". This is the link: Project URL Ok, let's see if I wrote the link right.... [EDIT:] After about 4 tries, I got it right.... [/EDIT:] L8R.... --- CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. > http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/ > It's impossible to "attach" to this URL, and AFAIK it have never worked... http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/ on the other hand worked before the "public" project moved to http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/ But anyway, the "official" url to "attach" to is http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ So for the actual problem in this thread... http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi is the address to the "public" seti-scheduler, and for some reason you can't connect to this. Make sure your connection is working, especially if software-based firewall make sure the firewall allows the upgraded BOINC-client to connect since often you must manually grant connection-privileges after upgrading BOINC. |

But, so far it has never let me down, every machine on my farm, remote or local, with all the different OS's uses it with no problems at all. TTFN Ken Phillips BOINC question? But when they break don't come crying to us because you are not using the official master URL. I expect the setiathome.ssl.berkeley URL will stay working but I would only use the official http://setiathome.berkeley.edu just in case. BOINC WIKI BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |

OK people, let me try to clear up the confusion with these differing SETI@Home URLs and which to use and which is used. Confused yet? 1. When you attach to the SETI@Home project using BOINC, you use the URL given to you when opening your SETI/BOINC account. This URL is: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/. This URL just happens to link you to the "Classic" SETI@Home web site as well. Click here to try it. 2. The URL that BOINC uses when communicating with the SETI@Home servers is as follows: http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/. DO NOT use this URL to attach to the SETI@Home BOINC project. This URL is used for uploading processed WUs and updating your BOINC client. I have never tried it personally, so I do not know what you would get if you plugged this URL into your web browser. I hope this helps to clear up the confusion, I'm no longer confused. :-) [EDIT:] 3. Well, people, it seems SETI/BOINC uses yet a third different URL, this one for communication with the SETI servers for downloading WUs. This URL is: http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/ 4. This URL: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/ is used by your browser to access this website. Look in the address bar of your browser. So, the bottom line is that we have 1 URL for attaching to the SETI project, 1 URL for uploading processed WUs and for updating the BOINC client (used by BOINC), 1 for downloading WUs (used by BOINC) and one for accessing this website. BOINC will not use this URL: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/, for communicating with the SETI@Home servers for up/downloading and updating of the BOINC client. bOINC WILL WORK WITH SETI@home URL: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu tHE ERROR 113 IS A NETWORK CONNECTION PROBLEM. If you did a install to a new version check your firewall setting, you may have to reset it. Every time I upgrade my Norton Persional Firewall ask me if Boinc is allowed to connect. I run ZoneAlarm but that seemed to be fine. I could still surf and a manual update worked. At least the error hasnt repeated itself since. |
