In for a win.

@Vic, Uli is right. There are folks that still use dial up. Not everyone in the SETI@home world has access to a high speed internet connection. I'm sure there's no way to say how many, but, everyone has always been kind to watch how many posts are in a thread, as once they get too high, with all the pictures and signature blocks, it takes forever to load. Its something a lot of us take for granted, as we are used to the nice high speed connections we have.

Don't take this the wrong way Vic. I don't mean it in any way as any kind of attack or attempt to be rude.

Guys, there is an option in your account under community preferences to set the number of posts to display if the thread contains more than a set number. I have mine set to the first 20 if there is more than 50.

Isn't the other answer here also, to have the Admins/Mods suggest a practical upper limit that we all stick to ? That way a thread does not get boring and no dial-up users are disadvantaged.

We had this already Chris.

It doesn´t really matter how much posts are in a thread cause only 75 posts are loaded at max.

Imho just one "bad" link or signature can cause in heavy load times.

Winning anyways.

One can also turn signatures off in the preferences.
