I want to delete all the workstation that is supplying me with no productivity. I may want to add these same workstation back at a later date with the updated version of Bionic. So.... My question is Can I delete computers and add them back with a new computer ID with out any issues?

You can delete them only if you did not crunch any wu's on the.
If you did they stay there and cannot delete them.

It is even more restrictive: a host can not be deleted if even only 1 WU has been send to it.

-If you downloaded a wu your out of luck. The server is waiting for your returned wu. I have one that crunched one wu and it's there forever or
untill SETI decides we can delete them. You say they have done nothing
but, The only way they can show up in your list is they Have downloaded a WU.

EDIT I would help you more but cannot see your puters. Thats ok...

Whenever you add them back they will automatically get assigned a new ID.

After the results have been assimilated out of the results database the host can be deleted.

I have deleted 2 old hosts (with results) just recently.

Did you lose any credits when you did this?

nope the credit stays.
But if you decide to readd the host later it will start over from zero so you will not be able to see a "complete" cobblestone/WO count for that host.

Since the machine is now in a scrap heap someplace (probably in the company someplace still) bringing it back is not a worry. I had the opportunity to replace a 166 with a 400, but I had to get rid of the 166.

I'm looking to delete a couple of old hosts as well - old OS's that have now been upgraded. I am just obviously nervous as I don't want to lose the credit that they acheived.
Can anyone else confirm that the credit won't disappear if I delete these hosts?

Ta,

Chris aka Kinnison.

Another question on this topic. The first comp I placed on this project never got any work way back when I first joined. I have sence re-formatted the HD and renamed the comp to something else. I was wondering if I delete this will it effect my join date?
I already couldnt link this account to my classic seti account because of changing email addys.

Chris.

The value [total_credit] is a number stored in the "user" record in the database. This number is changed when work units are validated. It is not added up (from all hosts) when displayed on web pages.

So if you delete a host that helped add to this number, that host's total is not subtracted from the total. I am unaware of any code that subtracts from total credit anywhere in the source.

Nick,
>I was wondering if I delete this will it effect my join date?
create_time is also a record in the "user" record. It also is only modified once (when the user is new).

Hmmm... it let me delete one of the old hosts fine, but the option wasn't there to delete the other one.
At least my total credit hasn't changed.
