Tomato sauce is available as is brown sauce and vineger. Peas are in the pan, tea is brewing. We have a bag of sugar and full fat milk. Chocolate digestives are at your disposal.

*Wipes sweat from brow* Now I know what chefs have to deal with :).

Nah, that's for the boys, real men need this

That's not pickle....that's "road tar"!!

Heinz Tangy Sandwich is nice, so too their Farm House one.
None of them is overbearing in flavour like I find with Branston's.
Pickle has to be subtle in flavour, I say.

The Heinz stuff is a mere imitator of the REAL Branston's.

Bring it on

Bring on the Branston's

Yeh, it should be subtle, unlike eating raw mega death chillies after eating a ham and pickle sarnie you should be able to taste something other than the pickles.

(Lime pickle excepted - they should blow your head off in a very clean and total manner)

And, in an emergency, it will cure the verrucas and corns on your feet if spread there for 4 days running.

The really good stuff strips varnish and paint as well ....

What I don't like about the Branston is it's hellishly strong smell!!
This could be the vapors coming from the paint stripper used in the recipe then?

Maybe. Rumour has it that ladies of refinement use it as a handy sal volatile.

I thought that was black pudding distilled in to haggis?

Mind you that combination has well been known to denude desert areas of their native badger populations.

Well, that explains why I've not seen a badger in any of our local deserts lately.
Don't let PETA or the SPCA get wind of that.
