Yup....

A new study shows lack of sleep causes tired Americans to do less work at their jobs, at a cost of $63 billion a year in lost productivity.

Harvard researchers looked at about 7,400 people. They found, on average, workers in the U.S. lose the equivalent of 11 days' worth of productivity a year because they're tired. They're still on the job, just accomplishing less.

Women got less sleep than men, and college-educated workers got less sleep than less-educated workers.

Researchers say this shows how pervasive the issue of insomnia is, and that it may be worth it for employers to screen and try to treat workers' sleep issues.




And so, I toddle off to try sleeping with the kitties again.........

Don't I wish!!!

Last night I too suffered that,
but first went to sleep just like a bat.
I don't know what woke me up,
but wide awake I tossed, and played with pups.

I decided to look at the forums to see,
what might help reverse this iniquity.
It seemed to work, for around 04.30am's stroke,
I fell asleep for a 5 hour break.

I tried and the kitties they did as well.
Their paws laid upon me wakeness did not quell.
I got to try once more to snooze
or my sanity I just might lose.

Not so here....
My day of OT work came to an roaring halt when crazy storms broke out and tore through the area. Straight line winds of up to 75 mph....trees and power lines down all over.
The warehouse went dark, and we sat in the shelter area for an hour an a half. Management finally decided the power wasn't going to come back any time soon and sent us home when the coast was clear.
Which was fine by me....I was really worrying about the kitties. Got home and they were all fine, lots of small branches torn off of the trees, but nothing too big. The power was still on and nothing came through the windows.
Ran over to Lori's place to check things for her, and about the same. A few planters blown about and branches scattered, but the house and the kitties were safe and sound.

And just a few houses down the block, I now hear the roar of several chain saws as some of my neighbors are dealing with the carnage.

The kitties and I have been blessed today.
