It rained here last night, so hard it woke me up at some unruly time, so I went back to sleep again....

Most of us understand that. Still a 5.9 would hardly even make the press out here. Now if I won, that would be news, were's Dan Rather when you need him....

Covering some story I suspect. 7.1 would really be News, At least California won't slide into the sea, Sea Level will rise eventually, maybe about 4' or so, but then I'm not surprised as the melting polar ice is water and It has to go somewhere, If Antarctica Melted off We'd be in a real pickle as the ice there in places is about 2 or so miles thick and that's a hell of a lot of frozen water...

Or at least those in low lying areas like Orange County near the coast.

Morning win. The last earthquake I experienced was when I dropped the Argos catalogue.

Nowt compared to droping the last paper version of the RS catalogue - what do you think caused the big one in Japan - it was the rebound shock....

Winning... but having been a veteran of the Sylmar quake(6.4?) from a few miles away from the center.. the east coast quake while not major is not exactly "mild" either. 6.4 threw me out of bed, and the 5.4-6.2 aftershocks were nothing to sneeze at either. Those will definately get your attention.

We felt the Sylmar quake in Visalia, and the Northridge quake. I rode one out on Guam in 1975, and I was at Mare Island Shipyard in Vallejo, sitting on the end of my bunk, when the World Series/Loma Prieto quake hit in 1989. Not fun, but the wildest ride I got from a quake was in 1983 or 84, while I was teaching Electrician Schools at the Naval Training Center in San Diego. An earthquake off the coast made my waterbed slosh so badly I was tossed out onto the floor. Worst rejection I ever got.

RS the electronic catalogue? If so, that and the Farnell on a shelf together is a recipe for hilarity. As it did at college when the very bowed shelf holding them and a few others finally gave in.

No the last paper issue of the RS catalogue, I've got one somewhere, acting as a mega door stop, or it might be the foundations for a "stylish" coffee table.
A4 format, several volumes, totalling about 20cm thick, all in a "nice" cardboard box.
For some strange reason, beyond my comprehension, I had SIX of them delivered at the same time, you should have seen the courier's eyes when I rejected 5 of them...

I did mean the paper one, I should've wrote RS the electronic component catalogue, and considering where I'm from there's really no excuse for my poor use of the English language. If excuses are accepted, however, mine is, "there was a network transmission error that resulted in the loss of several packets which contained the very word that was missing from my earlier post" :).
