"Prices are expected to be around $1499 online!" You do realize you can get TWO GTX590's from EVGA for that? Janice |

I should correct myself. It looks like they stopped selling the twin pack air cooled. And the water cooled are $1799 for the two pack. Janice |

it uses 3 pcie slots I believe that is only 1 PCI-E slot actually plugged into. But 3 card slots in the back of the case for the cooling. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I'm thinking if I could afford 2 of those, water cooled, I could OC the heck out of them, and find ET in a few minutes. Fortunately, I can't afford one of them, and of course I would need a whole new MB, CPU, and RAM as well. One could lay down a huge hunk of change, and end up with a mighty cruncher, and a powerful gamer. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

It's sad that I've stopped playing a lot of PC games as I have to shut down Boinc to do so. The resulting RAC drop makes me a sad panda. The SETI Crunching Disease is a Bad One. I had it between 2002-2006. Would of had a much higher WU Credit, but HDDs, MBs going bad and especially The Dreaded Win98SE going Pukey all conspired to take months of crunching time away. I still ended up near The Top One Percent. Now I don't care anymore. ET knows where I Live. Some people want The Cure. Others don't. I am Null and Void and a Darwin Barnacle |

Play your games and shut down Boinc if you must to do so. You must enjoy life. Just quite harassing Dear Heloise........ "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

My top rig is crunch-only, and would quickly be hamstrung if I tried to do much else on it. Many folks do not have crunch-only rigs, and are doing this on their daily drivers or their only computers. Extracting every ounce out of every CPU and GPU cycle available is gonna have it's cost on instantaneous availability of resources when you are trying to do mundane tasks. Extracting every ounce out of every CPU and GPU cycle available is gonna have it's cost on instantaneous availability of resources when you are trying to do mundane tasks. Mine must be the exception. I can do all sorts of things and not notice anything. I haven't tried to play an intense game for quite a while though. I would most likely have to stop crunching during that. Other than that I can be running Photoshop, doing a virus scan on a clients hard drive, sending email, and watching a video clip at the same time I'm crunching, and I'm not aware of any slow down. Yours isn't the exception Steve, most of my machines can handle the crunching and gaming load and not break a sweat, all the way back to an old AMD K6-2. The only trick is to turn of GPU crunching while gaming. |

The only trick is to turn of GPU crunching while gaming. Cool! I can see why turning off GPU crunching would be helpful. With the 98-99% utilization I am getting now, that would kill an intense game. Steve But if I ever get my hands on of couple of those water cooled Mars 2 cards, that may change. The 590's didn't interest me much because they were so restricted, but these beasts can be heavily overclocked. Come on lottery!!!! Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching!
