While TV may leave something to be desired the inter-web always delivers.

I was suddenly reminded of the 1970 song Postcards of Scarborough by Michael Chapman, which is probably in the loft along with all my vinyl. Less than 2 minutes later I was listening to the original thanks to that well known tube.

Definite WIN!

Like Mike -

Winning on another beautiful sunny, but windy, day, and still playing with painfully slow broadband.

Not like Mike -

According to the BT speed checker (www.speedchecker.bt.com), latest check on my ADSL, it is -

1. Synchronised at 928kb/s downstream (8km from exchange) and 448kb/s downstream;

2. Acceptable downstream speed for this speed is 200 - 1000 kb/s;

3. IP profile for my line, with this synchronisation is 750 kb/s;

4. Actula download speed achieved during the test - 53 kb/s.

This has been going on for over 2 weeks now.

Winning although a bit achy. Was in the men's room at work and turned and my back let out a POP so loud another guy in there asked if that was me. Now the middle of my back is *REALLY* sore...probably just relieving the stress of our rough month. I'll ice it later

you may be able to help me with this. My ISP Shaw.ca gave me this set of numbers:

Ping 30 ms
Down load 17.38 Mbps
Upload 2.09 Mbps
=======================
none of the other speed test on the web comes even close to these numbers.
The best of all the of the others shows
4.62 Mbps

Current BT speedtester still shows I am connecting @ 1314kb/s

The IP profile is still 750kb/s

The acceptable speeds from this profile are agreed at 200kbb/s to 1,000kb/s

The test results for today have been -

59kb/s
23kb/s
136kb/s
and 84kb/s

Speedy or what?

It's like watching slightly sugh speed dial up.

Winning (NOT)

Ok I tried the Speed test .net and the numbers were different, but not a whole lot.
===========
Speed test.net
Ping 5 ms
Download 19.60 Mbps
upload 2.43 Mbps

Shaw.ca
Ping 30 ms
Download 17.38 Mbps
Upload 2.00 Mbps
I guess that old cable is not so bad after all..

Still running with dial up-broadband, but at least the weather is wall-to-wall sunshine and warming (but seasonal normal). I am looking forwards to a walk in the country with the dogs.
