Continued from POLITICAL THREAD [3] Circulating in e-mail... A Great Cruise Offer - Departing 11/04/04 We at Carnival Cruise Lines: didn't forget that a lot of entertainers had promised to leave the country if George W.Bush were to be re-elected President. With that in mind, we have a Special Offer for those who still want to keep their promise! Attention: Would Alec Baldwin, Rosie O'Donnell and her wife, Ed Asner, Janeane Garafalo, Whoppi Goldberg, Al Franken, Michael Moore and his personal groomer, Cher and her vocal therapist, Phil Donahue, Rob Reiner(apparently still a "meathead"), Barbara Streisand (who has a nose for these outcomes), Jane Fonda, Vietnamese Ambassador to the U.S., Pierre Salinger, as well as the entire staffs of the LA and NY Times and anyone else who made that promise, please dispose of all US assets and report to Florida for the sailing of the Funship Cruise, "Elation," which has been commissioned to take you to your new vacation homes in Afghanistan. You may opt to be dropped off in Somalia or Iraq. The Florida Supreme Court will sponsor a Farewell Parade in your honor through Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties prior to your cruise. Please pack for an extended stay... at least four more years. Note: Since you advocate strict gun control, you may not bring any, but then with Jane Fonda along you won't need any. Staffing your voyage is Bill Clinton as captain, Al Gore as cruise director, Grey Davis, Purser Terry Heinz Kerry hopefully will be kept somewhere below decks away from the media. Monica Lewinsky as the "Cigar and Cigarette Girl", Entertainment by the Dixie Chicks and Bruce Springsteen, John Kerry will be our Life Guard in consideration of his past experience in pulling people out of the water. (Unless he decides at the last minute not to go) He is advocating the ellimination of the game "shuffleboard" in favor of his new game he calls "waffleboard". Be sure to pack your flip flops as you will need them while playing. Ted Kennedy will double as Bartender and Director of Emergency Procedures and as a buoy as required. Rev. Al Sharpton will provide inspirational services, and Ex-Congressman Gary Condit as intern coordinator. If you have any questions about making arrangements for your homes, friends and loved ones, please direct your comments to Senator Hillary Clinton. Her village, paid for by the United States, can raise your children while you're gone, and she can watch over all your money and your furnishings until you return. "Bon Voyage!" Is this a great country or what? It's called freedom of Speech. Stewie: So, is there any tread left on the tires? Or at this point would it be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway? So, Coffee Anon warns that the Iraqi/Coalition forces should not attack the insurgent's stronghold in Fallujah. To me, if the UN had wanted to be involved in the war to depose the bloody dictator Saddam, and free the Iraqi people, they should have signed on in the beginning. It's a little late now to think that they should have any influence on military operations. Wait for it . . . |

god you guys are getting really friggin' lamer than usual. It's pretty pathetic the depths you twits are sinking, and you fancy yourselves "moderate" and "intelligent" Americans I bet? yeah, it's really a proud time to be an American when a moron can become President just because he has a more venal campaign team that can get rednecks fired up against the gays. Hitler would be proud of you as$holes. And I find it doubly funny that you are here on scientific, distributed computing boards when you represent "Creationist" morons that can't even handle evolution being taught in schools, and think climate change/global warming is a "liberal conspiracy." But I suppose being as stupid as the average RepugliKKKan means not being able to comprehend anything other than base, reptilian emotions. PS -- leaving America was the best thing I ever did, especially leaving the legions of moronic rednecks behind. |

Actors, artists, musicians- what a bunch of crazies anyway. Problem is when they voice their opinions (freedom of speech) they can shout alot louder than you or I just by opening their mouths. So I guess this opens them up for public ridicule to a much greater degree than if you or I were sitting at the bar and said to your buddy, "I'm going to Antarctica if that moron gets re-elected." So have at them, if you will- They've as much right as you to speak out. Pick up a guitar. Maybe you can get louder...cc |

...and you fancy yourselves "moderate" and "intelligent" Americans I bet? Haven't you heard? America doesn't have moderates or even moderation. That's why the left becomes more leftist, the right become more rightist, the upper 1% become the upper 0.1%, and the lower 1% become the lower 10%. yeah, it's really a proud time to be an American when a moron can become President just because he has a more venal campaign team that can get rednecks fired up against the gays. Hitler would be proud of you as$holes. You lose. I'd answer the rest, but it's no longer worth the effort. |

Gotta admit, this is one case where the sequel is going to be as good as it's original... Speaking from experience, ex-patriots hold no sway over the decisions on policies make in the home-country, but seem to take a more vested interest in politics than the locals do. I'm scared shitless about the next four years - I had my first sleepless night due to fear the evening after Kerry conceded. I only got some rest once I figured out why. Congress will manage to accomplish nothing in the foreseeable future. Neither party controls any part of the system just yet, and neither party will join its opposition unless there's something like a financial foul-up or another kamikaze blitzkrieg (nothing gets legislation passed instantly like a crisis). And because the Republicans need to fortify their position, they'll keep moving further and further right; Democrats, to the left. And because of this, Bush won't be able to sign legislation, make appointments, or make executive orders without having to juggle better than Binky the Clown. In an odd way, this could be the kind of situation where Bush could turn out to be a good President - He's got to pacify two sides that refuse to budge, but which need each other in order to do anything. I found an odd solace in it - This got me to sleep. Anyone who wants to leave, do so. Anyone who wants to stay, do so. You can even belittle each other behind each other's backs, to each other's face, or here if you want. But just because you're an ex-pat doesn't make you a Hemmingway, and just because you stick it out doesn't mean you're accepting bullshit ad infinitum. Nothing will happen. Goodnight. |

Does anyone seen a news about a terrorist group (don't know if it was AQ) threatening US for attacks in the coming days ? I saw it on Yahoo FR and UK late last night and it stayed for about 30 minutes and then gone. It was saying that this group was upset about the election results and blablabla. The news was actually serious and rather "scarry" because it was almost giving dates. Anyway I just can't find that news anymore anywhere. It even did not showed on Yahoo US. It's bizare... Just like if someone somewhere had wanted it to be censored. Or is it just because they found out it was faulse news ? Don't know. |

This is from PT3. But since we change over to PT4 I have the feeling no one read it. I hate that ! I protest ! When I write something I want it to be read !!! Just jokking > > Just for info.... > > > > THE WORLD VOTES FOR JOHN KERRY > > Excuse me, but you call Americans 'arrogant' for wanting to impose their views > on the world, then mention this as an alternative? > > Wouldn't the same people that conduct this type of exercise be equally (and > unpleasantly) uncomfortable if the rest of the planet were allowed to choose > the leader of THEIR nation? > > What's good for the goose...usually ends up in the pate! I fully understand John, but the difference is nobody cares who will be the next president (or is it prime minister) of Norway because it won't change anything in our day to day life. We cannot say the same for American election. Almost all decisions taken by the US president will influance day to day life of the whole world. Before bush invaded Irak nobody where beheaded over there. I am not accusing american for those barbarian acts, I am just saying facts. As the world super power you have to expect other country to give their opinions and preference over one president at the white house rather then another one. As for americans being arrogant, I guess it could be true in some aspect. Having the biggest army makes it easy to invades country without even listening to other countries advise or concerns. That is what happen with Irak. People arround the world never understood the point in doing that and it shows that they were right. International aid organisations (action contre la faim, medecin sans frontiere, red cross, care, a bridge for Irak, The UN ! etc) have all been directly hurts by Bush decision. Beheading, suicide bombers, 100000 innocent who died over there, etc are the direct impact of the american president unilateral's decision to attack that sovereign coutry. I am not accusing americans, don't get me wrong, but if americans don't want other countries interract with your own business, just make sure your administration acts with respect of others and intelligence. By re-electing bush americans are kind of approuving his unilateral views and world policies. And uses of forces just for the benefits of Americans. No matter if it's good or bad for others. How many times The US has opposed his veto at the security concil just because it was not good for the US ? The kyoto threaty is a good example. The US is the biggest "producers" of pollution and the ozone whole is in great parts their fault. Why America has opposed to it ? Because it would apparently not be good for the economy. If you go to extreme, the world could be dying of war, hunger, pollution etc, but as long as it don't touch American economy nobody bother. I am not Anti american, those who "know" me knows that. It's just that it is time for american to understand that being a superpower do not just bring advantage, but also big responsability. Regards Marc |

Maybe they were talking about 2008? Its when they stop threatening that we should be worried. |

The fact remains that a vote for Bush & the Repukes is a vote for bigotry, intolerance, ignorance, stupidity, superstition, and war. I can't count how many people I heard in the US literally say "THE NIGGERS ALL VOTE FOR THE DEMOCRATS SO I'M VOTING FOR BUSH." And that mentality is reproduced quite well in the "red states." Again, I find it appalling that a few pseudo-intellectuals who post around here will try to brush it off saying "this is the will of the people" etc. There is no doubt that Bush won from this racist & psychotic religious fruitcakes. And just because one makes correct comparisons to the Nazi's does not mean "Godwin's Law" (another lame construct by pseudo-intellectual geeks) does not invalidate it. Jesus would think you guys are a bunch of assholes, as well as Carl Sagan! ;-) PS -- can you imagine Carl Sagan, or even John Lennon speaking out against the bigotry & religious psychoses in America today? They would be villified far more than Michael Moore was. Think about it... |

> PS -- leaving America was the best thing I ever did, especially leaving the > legions of moronic rednecks behind. Yeah, we'll really miss you...not! If you don't like where you are, move. If you don't like what you do, quit and do something else. Hopefully, where you are now will grant you sufficient personal freedom to do so. If not, you know who still does (at least in some parts of the country...) Stewie: So, is there any tread left on the tires? Or at this point would it be like throwing a hot dog down a hallway?
