I am wondering what people's plans are for the first day or two after SAH's return. Will those of you with farms stagger your computers' return or will you switch them all on at once? Any plans to use a smaller cache to ease the bandwidth bottleneck that is bound to ensue for the first 48 hours or so? Though I operate at a much smaller scale than most in this forum (one computer, no GPU) my plan is to maintain NNT for the first 48 hours. I don't want to get trampled by the thundering herd. I'll also set my cache lower than normal (normal is 4 days so I'll cut it to 1 or 2). Then, when I allow new tasks, I'll keep Einstein going for a week or so as well. It ought to be an interesting week or so after the gates open. How do you plan to deal with the Great 2010 Feeding Frenzy? Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. I offered the staff some suggestions for the server side.. On the local side, Einstein has tied my CPU's up in knots until 12/13. GPU, just going to let it grab. It seems to poll about once per day at the moment. Cache size down to 1 day. I am concerned about Jocelyn. Time will tell. Janice |

I've got AQUA running on my 4 machines, with WU times anywhere from 8 hours to several days. I'll likely just set Aqua to NNT within a day or so of SETI comingback online and let BOINC work it out. A couple of my machines likely won't even request SETI work for a day or so after I set NNT. |

I plan to allow new work on all my computers (there are only 4) but not limit other projects, so I don't expect much work to be requested any time soon - no Nvidia GPUs and CPUs are tied up with Einstein for at least several days (cache is 2.5 days). -Dave |

I intend to sit back and watch. Not that my two little machines will make much difference either way. One could argue that if everybody did this it would be an interesting and realistic test of both S@H and BOINC hardware and software when faced with a glut of demand like this. Any personal messing with settings at the user level might slew the results. That's the test engineer in me speaking - you don't know what to fix until it breaks. |

Machines are set to download SETI WUs as available. So much PrimeGrid work going on that I probably won't notice for a while. RAC will certainly drop as PrimeGrid is still climbing and insanely higher than SETI ever was. |

I'm going to wait until the new year before asking for new tasks as by that time the demand should've quietened down a lot by then (so long as the new server setup can stand up to the punishment it'll get). Cheers. |

I hope to switch back to SETI full tilt. Lets test the servers, and see what they can do. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

I have NNT on Einstein & as they're done they'll gradually be replaced with SAH units. I intend to let BOINC do the work, boosting up the higher quorums as I do. Jst kicked a _4 into action, then paused it & let the EAH continue, so the _4 SAH will be continued sooner than otherwise. |

Auto-pilot for my two meager machines. It's what the BOINC client was designed for. Leave it alone and it will take care of everything in due time. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

The good news is that we will only have to wait days, not weeks. I have a very good feeling at what is about to be unleashed. Maximim bandwidth shouldn't even warm these servers up. I think they were very well speced out for the tasks at hand. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

My queues are all full of Collatz so it might grab a few units at a time, but no mad rush to grab 10 days worth of units. |
