I wanna know why we put our trunks in the boot, and you put your boots in the trunk ! Cause you don't speak proper English, like what we do over here, eh. Cars don't have boots. Or wings. I mean, geez, eh? We keep our junk in the trunk, although I understand that phrase has a different meaning for our younger generation. |

Hey Bill, whatcha gonna do with all that junk, all that junk inside your trunk? Oh please. I was recently forced to listen to this in someone else's automobile. Shortly after I was in a conversation where somebody said the pop music industry was dying, to which I replied "it's about time". Excuse me, I'm going to go listen to some grown up music, on a real stereo. |

'oh look you can put all the icons into the bin' restoring from current backup? You sound like my mom-in-law 'I didn't do anything' well the computer is not known for doing things on it's own. Carola ------- I'm multilingual - I can misunderstand people in several languages! |

Excuse me, I'm going to go listen to some grown up music, on a real stereo. I play both kinds of music, 33.3333333 and 45 rpm (as well as country AND western). My father had a huge collection of 78s, mostly military music. However, the movers did them all in back in about 1966. Actually, I just got back from listening to Bach organ music on CD. How come nobody has written anything better in the last 300 years? Has humankind peaked out? That's my (sort of) goofy question. |

33 1/3 ?? 45?? You mean they make something besides 78s?? Or is that something I can play on my trusty 4 track tape player? PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

Us modern guys have got 8 tracks ! Pardon the rant, but ... The 8 track was the beginning of the end for the old style record companies. The theory was that people would put up with crappy music reproduction and tracks split in half, in exchange for a little convenience in playing music. This kind of thinking led to mp3s and cheesy bud ear phones. The record companies discovered, too late, that the people who placed convenience ahead of music quality were not long term music buyers. They were just followers of fashion, buying 8 tracks this week and then pet rocks the next. Those of us who really like music (and therefore continue to spend money on it) saw all this and moved away from the main stream companies, and on to smaller specialty manufacturers (of recorded music and of playback gear), and eventually shopping on the Internet. The tirade of the big companies about illegal downloads is just the last gasp of the corporate dinosaurs. The people who steal downloads this week will be on to something else next week. Those of us interested in music pay for downloads, from the companies that offer quality downloads. |

Hear what you are saying Bill, and yes you are right. Long live Quad valve amps! Ah, that brings back memories of my Dynaco pre-amp, monoblock amps, and FM tuner. Purchased second hand in my freshman year in university, and re-tubed at a local surplus store. The clerk was as excited to see Dynaco as I was to own it. Then I added a switching box designed by an EE roomie and built by me without having a clue what all the bits were for. It all worked! Together with an AR turntable, and home made 3 way speaker enclosures, they made great music for several years. My budget for the last few decades has meant solid state integrated amps, but they can be pretty sweet too. When I win the lottery I may go back to tubes. |

Well, my 4 track player was last seen in San Ysidro many years ago. Bet whoever broke into my car and stole it is still regretting it. :-) Even back then he probably couldn't have got more than a couple of pesos for it. PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |
