I intend to make the winning leap in a plane...flying over the Grand Canyon for the win. Of course one could still drive across Hoover Dam, But once across You'd have to turn around soon enough as besides parking the rest of the US 93 old road will be cut off from both ends as there is a migration route for Desert Big Horn Sheep there that crosses the current(soon to be old) US93 route from what I've read. Oh and this is a modern 4 lane bridge with room on the sides. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I've been there, thats an awesome place to visit. We have a current construction going on for the US 395 bridge in Washoe Valley, Nevada, that is gonna be one heck of a bridge. I don't have any pictures, as I don't get to that part of the city, but the photo's online that I've seen through our local paper, man, its impressive. |

Yeah there's a bridge there under construction and I may have a pic of that one too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interstate_580_(Nevada) The two links below have more recent pics than does the wiki. http://www.freewayextension.com/ http://factory.oxblue.com/client/galena/ As It's part of the I580 Freeway construction project, If I have the right one of course, According to the Wiki the capital of Nevada Carson City will finally be linked to the Interstate Freeway System. Winning after a 14 km hike with a mate today. Took 7 hours, we got permission from Greater Wellington council to use it. No one has been on it for 6 months or so. Fallen trees everywhere, plants growing on track, landslides - 10cm wide foot areas, otherwise a deadly drop down a steep valley! A lot of cuts and stings, and swearing, but we completed it! :) - Luke. |

That's one of them, there's another one way up on the hillside. I'll see if I can find a picture of it. But that's 1 of 3 or 4 that they are building. Basically the old freeway goes from what is called the Mount Rose highway, through an area called Pleasant Valley, and its mostly residential area, with a speed limit of 55MPH. Lots of accidents and children killed, theres a school that is within 1/8th of a mile of the highway. This new part of the freeway will link it from Mt Rose highway to Washoe Valley, and then into Carson City. |

I know another bridge that is pretty high. 2 lane highway bridge. Same bridge from a different vantage point. And from center span. BOINC WIKI |
