I've fallen down on ice numerous times but have been lucky enough not to break anything. Balance doesn't help much on black ice.

Better than breaking a 3rd leg.

Wot? I would never walk on ice carrying my expensive tripod anyway. ;)

Well our Valentine's Day was... uh... different.

Eric and I NEVER go out on this holiday. Why fight the crowds and pay the outrageous prices? Instead we always cook the same meal at home: cheese fondue, bread, vegetables and something chocolate for dessert. This year we made a double batch as my in-laws are visiting for the weekend. Eric blanched each time one of his parents dropped a piece of bread or a vegie into the fondue and they "had" to smoochie-woochie. (The rules of fondue are incontrovertible!) Poor Eric...

Valentine's Day went great. Mrs. Leftist bought her own present and we invited my newly single (again) brother over for dinner.

Well You had Your adventure Angela and I had mine, I went from air cooling on the cpu here to the Corsair H50 cpu water cooling system, Of course the stock fan by itself sucks as It can't cool the QX6700 cpu at stock speed(2.66GHz), I had to scramble to find a 25mm thick fan to go with the Corsair fan, I mounted a 103cfm Sunon 120mm fan to help the corsair fan and now the QX6700 cpu works at 2.65GHz(I lowered the multiplier from 8 to 6(3.52GHz to 2.65GHz)), On the 1st I'm going to buy some 25 screws for $4.18(delivered, I can't get phillips screws here[no big deal], places around here just have flat blade screws[6-32 1.25" long] just so I can use My 150cfm 120mm Delta fans as these fans are 38mm thick instead of 25mm thick. The QX6700 being such an old cpu puts out the heat, This Corsair just doesn't have much capacity, So My next two cpu water coolers will be a similar Asetek LCLC cooler that has a 240x120mm radiator instead of the 120x120mm radiator that Corsair H50 uses. In any case the two fans are being held on by 2 screws a piece, But It works, Barely, I even stuck a filter on the intake, It raised the temp by 1C(a trivial amount).

Some cookies Angela, What Yer not going into the cookie business?

Oh and Happy Valentines Day to everybody.

Wasn't the worst Valentines day.. Spent about two hours breaking up ice in order to see my sidewalks again for the first time in two weeks.

Noticed my GPU temps steadily rising over the last few days so I spent about an hour with an old toothbrush, cotton swabs and vacuum cleaner removing dust. The filters get most of it but the really fine dust accumulation is like glue. Compressed air doesn't touch the stuff.

And the highlight of my day was watching a couple hours of the olympic luge runs with my brother in-law.

It was just another day. No wife, girlfriends to appease.. And just the way I like it.

Tell me about it! I've seen vids of at least two horrific accidents involving skate blades. One was figure skating and the other a hockey accident.

me standing in line for flowers guy turns to me and I say, "Isn't it great that we get to buy things just to keep her from yelling at us on a specific date just because corporations say what we need to to buy?" Yep!

BTW she was still a shrill miserable person. seems that I didnt spend an entire paycheck to appease the goddess of useless gift giving.

To answer the thread's question: Valentine's Day SUCKED this year.

Dru is still in California (she gets back next week) and I had to work. So, I got to serve booze to lots of in-love couples and then go home and soak my aching feet.

On the happy side, in-love couples tip well. :D
