Luke, how big are your experiences with OC?

I would test the max. of your equipment [FSB(chipset)/RAM/CPU] at stock voltage.
Instead of FSB you have now the BCLK (board clock?) ?

If this is not enough (for you ;-) you could start to increase the voltage.
Step by step.

I OC only to the max. with stock voltage.
Higher Vcore will give bad performance/wattage ratio.
For this additional wattage (if you increase the Vcore) you could support a 2nd GPU which have a much higher RAC.. ;-)

Small example..
My QX6700 @ 2.67 GHz stock - ~ 190 W
OC @ 3.14 GHz - ~ 215 W (stock Vcore!)
I increased little bit the Vcore (for test) and had + ~ 40 - 60 W at the wall plug.

For this wattage you could add the new GT240 (new Fermi chip. Successor of the old 9600 GT / 9600 GSO) which could have maybe a RAC of 7,000 - 8,000 (RAC performance I guess).
AFAIK, ~ 75 W @ full load, then ~ 55 W with CUDA.

The few more MHz at CPU couldn't have this performance.

I do the same, Photobucket(See below). As to the PC yeah Dust filters are a must here, Most cases with air filters are too convoluted for My taste, So the ones that stick on are easier to clean to Me.

OK thanks for that.
When I tried it I just put the link to the Photbucket site.
Now I see how it's done.
Thanks again.

Just checked the link and it looks the same as yours so don't know what is wrong.
Anyway that is the inside of my i7 with the 2 original GTX275's removed to allow cleaning of the dust bunnies.

Dave

Edit: I am going to clean it again today will take a pic of the dust in there.
P.S.U. is different now.

Excellent! My (178x21=3735MHz - vcore 1.272) OC profile is 1 hour Prime95 stable! Yay! If all other higher OC's fail, this is my new default clock speed!)

However, I am currently testing a new (182x21=3822MHz - vcore 1.248) profile. This so far appears quite stable (5 minutes) as well, and the temps are only peaking at 69c-70c. Another hour of Prime95 to come.

@ Sutaru: My OC experience is little. However, I am in good hands. ;)
bclk means Baseclock, as Mark said "Baseclock is to Core i7, what FSB was to Core 2"

As for the pics, I've only posted about half of them here, when I get around to creating the video, I will show them all.

Very nice.....you are doing better than my 920....
I might try to address the situation tomorrow after I get some sleeps.
Has to be something holding up my OC other than the CPU itself.
I already know that I am unable to run the RAM at rated speed, so there must be something tied to that which is brickwalling.

Geez. I've barely had time to read 1/10th of the posts... I'm not just sitting back here watching my Prime95 run though. I've got stuff inside and around the house to do, I have to make lunch, I have to make sure the cats are OK, and of course the GF comes first out of all of this.

I haven't even replied to most of my Skype conversations....

RE: dust bunnies

Always remember that the floor is the dirtiest place in your house. I have all my computers sitting up high on shelves and tables/desks etc. They still get dusty but not nearly as much as would happen if they were sitting on the floor.

Well, firstly, nice case. Looks a bit like the NZXT M59... Which I would like for future builds...
Did you not get filters included in the case? Hmm. I would have expected most chassis makers to include filters with the case.
And are you planning to keeping the case of the ground?

Cooler Master in Its "infant" wisdom did not include any filters, There are some made for this case Here, But those don't cover up the intake for the psu on the bottom, Nor the filter on the top which sucks air/dust in as well as being an exhaust, Plus some on the back, One that has the 140mm fan will be an Intake instead of a pure exhaust when I install the Corsair H50(When It gets here It may go in then).

This was earlier when I had that Holy terror of a GTX295 inside with that Q9300(I'm putting the older QX6700 in to replace It as the ram will not go faster then 440MHz and the voltage is @ 2.1vdc which the ram is certified for by Patriot).

Oh and the HAF 932 can hold a pair of 5970 cards as It's an E-ATX case and so a 12" card is nothing, As there's room for up to a 13" card.

The filters and the borders around them are 140mm and about 50mm as It's a very very wide case, Heavy too.

I just tried running an OC profile of (186x21=3903MHz - vcore 1.240v)... BSODed on me 7 minutes in. Not stable. So I'm back on my (182x21=3822MHz - vcore 1.248) profile, except I've lowered the vcore further to 1.232v to see if I can lower the temps some more.

Here are the OC profiles I like best:

OC Profile 1: (170x21=3570MHz - vcore 1.304) 15 minutes S@H stable
OC Profile 2: (174x21=3654MHz - vcore 1.232) 10 minutes Prime95 stable
OC Profile 3: (178x21=3735MHz - vcore 1.272) 1 hour Prime95 stable
OC Profile 4: (182x21=3822MHz - vcore 1.248) 30 minutes Prime 95 stable

Okay. Apart from minor adjustments if I need them, I have finished my CPU OC journey... which concludes part 2 of 4 in my long road to number 1 in NZ.

I've reached a feasibility endpoint with a compromise. My permanent profile is that of (182x21=3822MHz - vcore 1.248). It's temperatures don't usually peak above 70c, and it is 30 minutes Prime95 stable. I'm going to see now if it is 6 hours Prime95 stable... and I'm 4 minutes into it. ;)

If it passes Prime95. I'm gonna' let S@H have it's day...

GPU Overclocking??? :D
I'd have no idea where to start.

Luke how long is it taking your GPU to crunch MB's ?
By the way John G informed me that the nVidia Edition case is still available.
In Canada

Last time I checked, which was at stock CPU speeds, it was 16 seconds.
Great! What a shame I don't live in Canada however.
