After running Seti for couple of weeks i decided to try Lunatics Win32 Lunatics' Unified Installer v0.2 optimized application. Now cuda work units after 10 or so seconds go down with "out of memory" errors. What have I done do screw things up like that? Here is what I get when starting Boinc "11/17/2009 4:46:05 PM Starting BOINC client version 6.10.17 for windows_intelx86 11/17/2009 4:46:05 PM Config: use at most 2 CPUs 11/17/2009 4:46:05 PM log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 11/17/2009 4:46:05 PM Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8k zlib/1.2.3 11/17/2009 4:46:07 PM Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 11/17/2009 4:46:07 PM Running under account Joe 11/17/2009 4:46:08 PM Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz [x86 Family 15 Model 6 Stepping 5] 11/17/2009 4:46:09 PM Processor: 2.00 MB cache 11/17/2009 4:46:09 PM Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 pni mmx 11/17/2009 4:46:09 PM OS: Microsoft Windows Vista: Home Premium x86 Edition, Service Pack 2, (06.00.6002.00) 11/17/2009 4:46:09 PM Memory: 3.25 GB physical, 6.68 GB virtual 11/17/2009 4:46:09 PM Disk: 223.34 GB total, 158.32 GB free 11/17/2009 4:46:09 PM Local time is UTC -6 hours 11/17/2009 4:46:09 PM NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce 8600 GT (driver version 19107, CUDA version 2030, compute capability 1.1, 256MB, 76 GFLOPS peak) 11/17/2009 4:46:09 PM SETI@home Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 11/17/2009 4:46:10 PM Not using a proxy 11/17/2009 4:46:13 PM SETI@home URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID 4256116; resource share 100 11/17/2009 4:46:13 PM SETI@home General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 01-Nov-2009 10:13:42) 11/17/2009 4:46:13 PM SETI@home Computer location: home 11/17/2009 4:46:13 PM General prefs: using separate prefs for home 11/17/2009 4:46:13 PM Reading preferences override file 11/17/2009 4:46:13 PM Preferences limit memory usage when active to 1662.69MB 11/17/2009 4:46:13 PM Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 3325.39MB 11/17/2009 4:46:13 PM Preferences limit disk usage to 50.00GB" And here is one (Task 1423359860) of 10 or so work units with error: "Work Unit Info: ............... Hi MrJeep, I had the exact same problem as you about 2 weeks ago, except I am using the mobile 8600M GT (also has the exact same memory), on my laptop. No matter what I disabled I couldn't get it to run without an 'out of memory' error. So I would suggest upgrading your current graphics card if possible to something a bit more sufficient. - Luke. - Luke. |

Gentleman GOT IT GOING. After fiddling around a bit I lowered resolution down to 1280X768 and restarted computer. That must have done it as I am processing 1 x 6.08 cuda and 2 x 6.03 work units at this time and no errors yet. Thanks Labbie for your suggestion. Thank you Luke as well. Needless to say this message board rocks !!!! By the way I am back in the game. Called it quits in June after 10 years but I AM BACK. MR Jeep. |

Gentleman GOT IT GOING. Glad to see you got it running, I need my current resolution on my laptop so lowering it wasn't an option for me. And by the way, you never really can quit SETI@home. ;). - Luke. - Luke. |

I had the same problem with an 8600GT card, changed my color depth to 16 and res to 1024X768 and now it looks like I am not getting the memory errors on CUDA work units. An example bad work unit Sorry for all those errors. (time for a new graphics card I guess) |

Hi, I also just updated to the Lunatics Unified Installer v0.2, and immediately thereafter BOINC stopped getting new WU's. It says project has no jobs available. Is there any place I can check so the WU's can resume? ======= 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Starting BOINC client version 6.10.18 for windows_intelx86 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Running under account ghar 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Processor: 4 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 11] 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Processor: 4.00 MB cache 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 pni mmx 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM OS: Microsoft Windows Vista: Home Premium x86 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.00.6001.00) 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 4.24 GB virtual 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Disk: 280.17 GB total, 207.54 GB free 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Local time is UTC +8 hours 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce 8800 GT (driver version 19562, CUDA version 3000, compute capability 1.1, 512MB, 339 GFLOPS peak) 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM SETI@home Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Not using a proxy 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM SETI@home URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID 5211044; resource share 100 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM No general preferences found - using BOINC defaults 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Preferences limit memory usage when active to 1023.19MB 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 1841.74MB 12/8/2009 9:30:03 PM Preferences limit disk usage to 10.00GB 12/8/2009 9:32:57 PM No general preferences found - using BOINC defaults 12/8/2009 9:32:57 PM Reading preferences override file 12/8/2009 9:32:57 PM Preferences limit memory usage when active to 1023.19MB 12/8/2009 9:32:57 PM Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 1841.74MB 12/8/2009 9:32:57 PM Preferences limit disk usage to 10.00GB 12/8/2009 9:36:03 PM SETI@home Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 12/8/2009 9:36:03 PM SETI@home Requesting new tasks for GPU 12/8/2009 9:36:09 PM SETI@home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 12/8/2009 9:36:09 PM SETI@home Message from server: (Project has no jobs available) 12/8/2009 9:45:59 PM SETI@home work fetch suspended by user 12/8/2009 9:46:02 PM SETI@home work fetch resumed by user 12/8/2009 9:46:12 PM SETI@home Resetting project 12/8/2009 9:46:12 PM SETI@home Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 12/8/2009 9:46:12 PM SETI@home Requesting new tasks for GPU 12/8/2009 9:46:23 PM SETI@home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 12/8/2009 9:46:23 PM SETI@home Message from server: (Project has no jobs available) 12/8/2009 9:46:25 PM SETI@home Started download of arecibo_181.png 12/8/2009 9:46:25 PM SETI@home Started download of sah_40.png 12/8/2009 9:46:26 PM SETI@home Finished download of sah_40.png 12/8/2009 9:46:26 PM SETI@home Started download of sah_banner_290.png 12/8/2009 9:46:27 PM SETI@home Finished download of arecibo_181.png 12/8/2009 9:46:27 PM SETI@home Finished download of sah_banner_290.png 12/8/2009 9:46:27 PM SETI@home Started download of sah_ss_290.png 12/8/2009 9:46:28 PM SETI@home Finished download of sah_ss_290.png 12/8/2009 9:46:38 PM SETI@home Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 12/8/2009 9:46:38 PM SETI@home Requesting new tasks for CPU 12/8/2009 9:46:43 PM SETI@home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 12/8/2009 9:46:43 PM SETI@home Message from server: (Project has no jobs available) |

Is there any place I can check so the WU's can resume? Thats because the splitters have stopped producing WU's. You'll get some when they're up again - hopefully soon... |

Is there any place I can check so the WU's can resume? The place to look is the Server Status page. I very much doubt there will be any new work until at least 22:00 UTC today, because they do scheduled maintenance on Tuesdays. |
