Curious how everyone here feels about Avatar. On one hand it is clearly a huge CGI spectacle but the story feels like one I have read and seen many times.

Are you planning on seeing it? Or will you give it a pass?

I hear you. My only concern is perhaps losing out on the experience of not seeing it on the big screen. I have this distinct feeling tho that this is going to get really terrible reviews...things like, "A feast for the eyes but a disaster of a story..."

My littel boy loves the Avatar cartoon. I have the entire collection on DVD. So I will be seeing it on the big screen with him and buy the DVD when it's released.

It's based on a cartoon? And here I was thinking it was an original screenplay.

Two different movies.

Avatar is an original movie.

The Last Airbender is based on a cartoon series that aired on Nick called Avatar: The Last Airbender. The movie looks unpromising with a cast of average actors at best.

Avatar on the other hand. Looks good.

I apologize for not being specific, I intended the thread to discuss James Cameron's Avatar.

I suspect that most everyone knew that but threads, especially here in the Cafe, tend to take on a life of their own. :D

I'll probably miss it. It seems like a space odessey "Terminator" style movie
