After all of that I uninstalled version 6.6.38 and started version 6.10.17 it now seems to work ok.
Thank you for putting up with me,

On one of my machines I have been getting the following messages:

11/11/2009 8:50:22 PM SETI@home Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
11/11/2009 8:50:22 PM SETI@home Requesting new tasks for GPU
11/11/2009 8:50:27 PM SETI@home Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
11/11/2009 8:50:27 PM SETI@home Message from server: No work sent
11/11/2009 8:50:27 PM SETI@home Message from server: No work is available for Astropulse v5

This machine is capable of cuda but because of heat problems on another machine I have cuda turned off for now for all my machines. Why is BIONIC requesting GPU work units. I'm not sure if this problem is new for 6.10.17 because this is a new machine. My other Cuda capable machine is correctly only asking for CPU tasks and it is also running 6.10.17.

Hi AlienDancer,

Try these steps:
Step 1 - Go to Advanced > Preferences and check whether "Use GPU while computer is in use" is ticked, if it is, untick it.
Step 2 - Go to Your Account > SETI@home preferences check whether "Use nVidia GPU if present" says yes, if it does, change it to no.
Step 3 - Also in SETI@home preferences check whether "Use GPU if available" says yes, if it does, change it to no.

Once you have done this, issue an update from the BOINC client and check whether this solves the problem.
If it doesn't go to the Lunatics Download Page, and download the "Unified Installer v0.2", and download the one that suits you.

Once downloaded, run it and select the options you need. I had this exact same problem as you a few days ago and this re-installed/updated all my optimized apps and fixed the problem.

If you use the new preferences entry "Use NVIDIA GPU if present (enforced by 6.10+ clients)" towards the top of the preferences list, rather than the old (and now obsolete) "Use Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) if available" towards the bottom of the list, you will find that your v6.10.17 BOINC client will stop requesting GPU work - this is a very recent change, only installed this week, and you'll probably find it's been set to 'yes' for everyone. Remember to change the option for other venues too, if you use them.
