I must say that they have done a very good job with BOINC...its very easy and simple to use, update and eliminates the need for external 'caching' programs. But there are a couple of very small changes i would like to see. May not be very significant but will definitely be helpful :
1. Minimize on startup ;)
2. BOINC should remember window position and sizes

List changes u would like to see here...hopefully someone from the BOINC dev team will see it or i'll gladly send a list on stuff we crunchers would like to see in the upcomming versions on BOINC!

It does start minimized for me everytime. In case it does not so for you, try the following:
Rightclick your boinc icon in the Startmenue (start up)
Select Properties
run (select minimized here)
ok

But minimized isn't in the systray, and still shows up on the taskbar. What Nuwanda really wants here I think (as do I want) is it to start in "Hide" mode, i.e. only in the systray.

On my windoze (Win2k on an Athlon XP1800+, and WinXP on an Athlon XP2400+) computers, it starts up in hide mode. I thought that was normal behavior. And, when I *DO* 'un-hide' it, it is in the position I had the window the last time I opened it, AND retains its size (I made the window bigger and wider so that I could see everything without those nasty scroll-bars).

Yes it does seem to store the window position. (indeed if you look in boinc.ini they are there).

from my boinc.ini:

[WINDOW]
xposition=367
yposition=235
width=721
height=505
selection=1

MK - what is your "selection" setting? Perhaps that is what controls the opening state?

I like to have the Pending credit on the Project bar. But instead it was taken away from the userpage.

Along with the Close/Maximize/Minimize buttons, should be a Hide button, like with eMule and other programs that usually go in to the system tray.

There a parameter you can add to have it start up in the systray when starting BOINC
Go into the BOINC shortcut properties and add '-min' to the end the Target
eg "C:\Program Files\BOINC\boinc_gui.exe" -min

You can do this to the shortcut in the Startup folder
or in the registry HKLM..Run section if not already there.

==========

I think it will be back, or at least I hope it will be anyway. I think they just took it away to ease the strain on the Server for awhile.

Nope, sorry I don't think there is for that. Being a modem user it would be nice to have.

Store options like "disable network access" and window size/position so a reboot retains these settings.

I would like to see them put password protection into the screen saver. With password protection on, you can't see the analysis screen when it's crunching away. All it shows is the boinc logo.

The link is back, but clicking it says the feature is turned off temporarily.

hmmmmm
Some work units would be good.
Or the ability to see pending credits IN the Boinc windows client without having to goto the site. :)
