kasule, These were very good talks, i enjoyed them. There was a hugh amount of technical science information in some of the videos that made them really interesting. This set of videos actually answered many of the questions i was wondering about SETI@home and the exact science. If i was to pick a favourite talk, it would probably be Dan Werthimer, i enjoy listening to Dan. What did you think about the videos kasule? Also, the pictures in your SETI@home profile are really cool. You live in a beautiful part of the world. John. |

Did you understand the way some of the speakers explained the science? The only real fault i found was the sound was bad in some of the videos and it would be nice to see the PDF presentations to help understand things fully. Sometimes the video was showing the speaker and you could not see the presentation on the screen. John. |

Maybe those people at seti who have the original copy of the celebration and presentation could help us with that, but if i get one which i will try in a day or two i will post it. Here's something I've been working on for the past few days. I've managed to get the entire video collection into a single file, sans the talk on exobiology. THIS WASN'T EASY. Virtual Dub kept slapping me in the face because who ever encoded those .avi's had a different audio sampling rate in each video - so they wouldn't merge together. I ended up re-encoding all the huge mpegs with XviD into smaller .avi's while changing the apparent right channel "stereo" into dual mono. Re-saved each as a segment then appended all the segments together and saved as a single file. I changed the order of the videos to go from the general (DC and BOINC) to the specific (SETI). I think it flows better this way. I had to drop one video (#3) because Virtual Dub maxed out passed it's 256 indexes limit. Video resolution is the same albeit more compressed. Video order is 1-2-7-5-4-6-8-9. I'm uploading it to my youtube account now. No direct link yet because it still has over 2 hours remaining. I'll post the link tomorrow, or in the meantime someone else can do it when it's ready. Video filesize is 896MB. Enjoy. :D (Technical details above are for the "nerds" as described by Matt.) me@rescam.org |

Thanks alot ! that really helps us a lot. According to youtube video length is 4:08:23 and it's still processing. :) It was interesting to see Eric fielding so many questions on the radar blanking. I guess the audience never paid attention to SETI Beta. ;) me@rescam.org |

Oh this suxorz the big one1111. Rejected (length of video is too long) You can no longer upload videos longer than ten minutes regardless of what type of account you have. Users who had previously been allowed to upload longer content still retain this ability, so you may occasionally see videos that are longer than ten minutes. You can, however, easily change your account type to Director, Comedian, Musician, or Guru, which offer a variety of other features like the ability to add a custom logo, tour date information, and links to other websites. So anyone know of a video site that allows long videos? me@rescam.org |

So anyone know of a video site that allows long videos? I'm going to try to get it on Blip.TV and/or Dailymotion. me@rescam.org |

Video is now up on Blip.tv (currently being converted, but watchable up to the conversion point.) They wanted a thumbnail so I used one of JG's 10th anniversary pics. :) me@rescam.org |

Video is now up on Blip.tv (currently being converted, but watchable up to the conversion point.) They wanted a thumbnail so I used one of JG's 10th anniversary pics. :) Chris, I opened the link and the Blip.tv page opens windows media player on my PC. I left the window open for about 5 minutes, but the video does not start. So it appears that Bilp.tv wants to download the whole movie file before it will play the video. Nobody is going to wait for that, its also 2.5 hours long. S@NL - XP_Freak put the whole lot on Youtube, and they can be watched as individual short videos, and Youtube is streaming video so it plays as soon as you open the page. You did well Chris, but maybe it would be better as individual talks or something. John. |

You did well Chris, but maybe it would be better as individual talks or something. Myspace allows up to 500MB a file (I didn't see a time limit) so I can try to put them there. Eric camera-hogged a lot of megabytes in his file. me@rescam.org |

To all seti@home users and family as a whole , I think its time we all target and get on the large social networks like face book and make our presence known. In these modern world advertising is everything, most of the world is not even aware we exist from a simple survey that i did. For us to be strong and achieve our objectives we should go out and form large communities were the world as a whole can see us ,and support our cause. Its possible many of us are there already ,but you see if we dont link up then we are fragmented and our voices cant be heard by the world and fragmented we shall fall but in large numbers we shall stand so guys lets get there and pound the road ,let the world as a whole know we exist and what we do !The problem is how do we all link up there, i just know a few of you there. We choose to go to the moon and to do other things, we choose to go to the moon not because its easy but because its hard. kennedy |
