3) I don't know the exact number, but it's fairly long (more than a week). Someone else will correct me, because I'm sure I'm wrong.

You're absolutely right - it's more than a week.

It's two weeks.

BOINC will try the uploads for two weeks before it deletes the tasks.

2. If we blow through our caches, and can't upload any of it, can we still get more work, or is the server expecting that work back?

Work-request to a project is blocked if you've got more than 2x #cpu's uploads to a project. It doesn't matter if the uploads is actively transferring, or in random backoff, they'll still counted.

The damn dam broke here and I completed all my uploads and am now requesting more work. So.....I am no longer seeing red.

Oh you'll see red for a long time as of this moment. (well...download related)
It looks like the safety mechanism just kicks in, alowing sending work.
On the other hand, as usual, there is no single WU to download and the cycle
repeats itself. It might appear that's the right way of solving things out,
but what are the odds of having 161,880 APs out in the field and I couldn't catch a single one?

So we have been seeing this for three months? And the only thing that can make sure it does not happen again is a larger pipe to the server?

How much money would be needed for a big bandwidth increase?

We have been seeing different issues off and on for three months.

We haven't necessarily seen just one big problem, continuously, for three months.

It just seems that way because nobody gripes when things go well.

Pretty good actually, because some of the work "out in the field" was assigned weeks ago.

6. Who?

The correct question would have been: Doctor Who?
And the answer is of course the anagram of the question: Torchwood ;-)

According to Matt...
...Astropulse numbers up until this morning reflected version 5 workunits/results, now they reflect version 5.05.

It was two days ago, so I don't think that numbers involve old 503's.

I read Matt's comment as referring specifically to the "Results ready to send" and not to the "Results out in the field" which, IMHO, includes *all* AP WU's that are being tracked.

Something just happened on the Cricket Graphs
I know my uploads got through, but I'm not requesting work so I don't know about downloads. Status page was a bit delayed but green.

Well what sort of a weekend would it be without something to fret about?

The number of workunits ready to send under both columns is zero, and the creation rate shows work is being created.

That means the feeder is grabbing up everything split during the last few seconds, and it is being assigned almost immediately.

As all of the "hungry" crunchers get fed, that will hopefully level out and we'll be back.

I'm a 'hungry cruncher!'....

Got all my uploads through, then changed my machine to the unified installer with v505 added, but can't get any new work now. Got 1 MultiB earlier, killed that one in about an hour, and now back to no work. My other machine has work and is crunching.

I know the splitters are maxed out, so just waiting. I only crunch Seti, so no backup project to fall back on. Never been out of work like this before.

Still so hard to be patient.

regards, Gizbar.

I was in the same boat as you but got 11 new MB wu's about 1/2 hr ago. I was dry for about 7 hrs after updating my Opt Apps last night then got a shorty this morning which was done in 21 minutes then waited again till the 11 (not shorties) came in.

some of mine aren't uploading, just sitting there..... but that's ok.... let the server do what it needs to do.... can't expect full-time service from 5+ yr old machinery... or asking a lion to pickup tree logs at the same rate as an elephant..... not going to happen.

I recommend Secunia PSI: http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/
Go Georgia Tech.
