How do I setup gigabytes HD4890 to be recognised by seti? My previous card only needed to have the software updated, but this time it tells me the software is up to date, but I still not see it.

Has anyone used this card, is it any good?

I see you posted elsewhere and have learned that the HD4890 is an ATi type card which does not support SETI CUDA processing.

Personally, I love ATi cards and my HD4870 is amazing for games!

We are currently waiting on ATI support in BOINC. Apparently we are meant to see it come in sometime during the 6.7.x releases: Current recommended version is 6.6.28!!
Even when it is supported by BOINC, we will probably have to wait some time before any projects will be ready to use it as the applications have to be developed by the project staff without the help of ATI themselfs (unlike CUDA which was programmed with help from Nvidia).

No, it's been postponed to 6.10.
But with 6.8 being a quick release (mid-June), it's not that long a wait until testing versions begins with ATI support. Although then we still need an application from the project and for them to choose what to follow, CAL or OpenCL.

MilkyWay has an unofficial ATI GPU app.
I can crunch a WU in ~18sec with my 4870 over at MW (~60k rac) GPU apps

Currently work is really sparse, cause all the hungry cards. But, it is something to play with while waiting on other projects. Also they are days away from running the same WU's on ATI and CUDA cards. So that ought to be interesting to see perfomance of cards realative for crunching.
