Your posts prompted me to see that it happens more than six times in a century:

1) 1/3/05
2) 3/5/07
3) 5/7/09 (today)
4) 7/9/11
5) 9/11/13
6) 11/13/15
7) 11/9/07
8) 9/7/05
9) 7/5/03
10) 5/3/01

(not in the order that they occur).

Yes Qui-Gon, but-

The phrase here is "in order". The odd numbers are in sequence.

That would make the six dates:

1-3-05

3-5-07

5-7-09

7-9-11

9-11-13

11-13-17

It ends there (only 12 mos. in a year}

Consecutive does not specify acending (the set you have indicated) or decending (11-9-7, 9-7-5, 7-5-3, and 5-3-1). The later set are consecutive, but decending.

And to really pick nits (right Carlos? :-)) It only says Consecutive Odd Numbers. So that could be twisted to even include those three Consecutive Odd Numbers in any order within the date.

Also, don't forget that the MM-DD-YY convention is only one way to display a date. Some Europeans may argue with us US folks about that too. :-)

I personally like yyyy-mm-dd anyway. So for nobody does yyyy-dd-mm, so it is not ambiguous, and it sorts nicely.

Understood. However, since we count 'forward', one would infer that the numbers are ascending.

We don't always count forward--the numbers in a countdown are still consecutive, just backward.

Consecutive means "one after another without interruption." Both 1-2-3 and 3-2-1 follow one after another without interruption, the second sequence happens to be descending ("math geeks" would appreciate the symmetry of that). Here, your statement was about three consecutive odd numbers, but the statement did not specify whether the three numbers were ascending or descending, so the date 11/9/07 fits. However, the "one after another" part of the definition would rule out mixing the order, that is, the numbers 1-3-2 are not "consecutive, since they are not all one after another.

[devils advocate]
But the original post does not state "one after the other" and one could argue that as long as the odd numbers are consecutive in the number line, they can appear anywhere in the resultant date and still appease the stated criteria. :-) The "consecutive" aspect of their relationship isn't clearly defined as being consecutive in the date or consecutive simply in that the numbers happen to be three odd numbers that would be consecutive if ordered as you would if you were actually counting. :-)
[/devils advocate]

This is why good lawyers get paid big bucks. They make ambiguous concepts inarguably clear by leaving no wiggle room in words used to make their statements. :-)
