Hi,

6.6.2 will crash when selecting "Tasks" folder on Windows Vista x64 - it terminates with the following info:

Problem signature:

Application Timestamp: 4974ed8d
Fault Module Name: MSVCP80.dll
Fault Module Version: 8.0.50727.3069
Fault Module Timestamp: 48d0710e
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 0000000000002c90
OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.274.10
Locale ID: 1044
Additional Information 1: 947b
Additional Information 2: 5aed8165ec6c79cb7ecee0615fb01b4b
Additional Information 3: ddc1
Additional Information 4: f0a61242203bcdb2fbb45ecbc652b181

I have tried with newer C++ run-time library files to no avail.

Not a problelm with 32-bit version of BOINC, though.

Anybody else with same experience?

How did you get 6.6.2 already? The download page is still showing 6.6.0 as the latest beta.

I don't get an appcrash but Boincmgr as program isn't working so perfect..

Can confirm that Cuda / Cpu gets a separate downloading cue though so when this is polished this should be it..

Kind regards Vyper

I was having a look in the Boinc download directory, and saw Boinc 6.6.2 there,
so on a whim i downloaded and installed it, one slight problem,
i'm now the proud owner of 21 Fresh Astropulse from Seti Main, and number of Multibeam, this is what my log said, after i had already set NNT, and clicked update:

01/19/09 22:25:47|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
01/19/09 22:25:47|SETI@home|CPU work request: 0.00 seconds, 0 instances
01/19/09 22:25:47|SETI@home|CUDA work request: 0.00 seconds, 0 instances
01/19/09 22:25:53|SETI@home|Scheduler request completed: got 20 new tasks

I won't let it connect again, and I'm going back to 6.4.5

If i replaced boincmgr.exe from old 6.6.0 release it works perfectly..

This is the wrong forum to report Alpha/Beta BOINC crashes in, you know? ;-)

There's a whole BOINC Dev forum available for those things. Makes it easier for the BOINC developers to communicate with you as well, as they then don't need to have a positive RAC as is needed here on Seti.

Hi Ageless,

Oh I did consider it, but the following reasons lead me not to:

1: long time between updates (most of the threads haven't been updated in more than 7 days)
2: Most (if not all) the developers are keeping an eye on this forum.
3: I'm not a developer or programmer, so I feel rather misplaced there (I haven't even registered)

Hehe lol

Well even if u don't have a positive RAC ur still very much welcome here in s@h number crunching areas! :) , that isn't a requirement here anyway if you think so for sure..

I sincerly didn't thought of that, just wanted to help out all other who experience the same issue as i did.

Some of us are diehard rac chasers but also in terms of keeping the system busy and crunching valid scientific data. Now the only thing needed to be corrected is the vlar issue with cuda if that isn't fixed already and by that i mean not jumping to a subroutine to let cpu crunch through the whole wu :) as a temporary solution..

Kind regards Vyper

Not the BOINC developers.
If they want to get information from you, they'd have to go crunch Seti to get RAC to be able to post in this forum. A bit overkill if there's a whole BOINC forum available where those requirements are not in place.

Boinc Manager crashed on me also. Using Windows XP SP3. Immediately downloaded a bunch of work. When the work finally finished downloading I stopped and removed 6.6.2. Reinstalled 6.6.0 and working ok again.

[edit] no work was lost but it appears my cache size is doubled.

Ummm the idea of placing this problem on the Developers forum would be so that the Developers would get the info to fix the problem. Not so that you could get help with it. As Ageless and other point out 6.6.2 is still alpha and not ready for public use 6.60 is barely out as beta.

The best you can hope for is going to the Developer forum and letting them know. Most of us aren't developers and shouldn't be using this app just yet.

Not being a developer puts you at a distinct disadvantage when using apps that arent completely ready for primetime
