Im going to throw this out to the masses here. We have a guy who lives upstairs who puts the production 'Stomp' to shame. He plays his music so loud that we have things vibrating on the walls. He has no respect for the rest of the building. I decided to write this letter to management and wanted to know if this is good enough or should I add more?

Apartment Company name here

This is to serve as an official complaint against the tenants of Apartment XXX in XXXX building. We have on numerous occasions as tenants gone upstairs to request that they turn down their music and be quieter when having guests over. We have been polite in our requests but were told off and told that’s your problem and have had the door slammed in our faces. We have also called the police on numerous occasions to which they have come and given warnings. Our neighbours have been disrespectful of the tenants in the entire building and have been completely inconsiderate about noise level. They have also made our building a revolving door by having the door propped open and allowing strangers as well as their party guests into our building.

I think that same guy lived above me 25 years ago.

I found it a great incentive to start saving my down payment on a house.

It reads fine. It's clear, concide & to the point.

I feel your pain for what it is worth. I was forced out of my last house by noisy neighbours and a complete lack of action by the authorities. It was a move for the better for me though.

I'm currently having a similar problem, but rather than a tenant, have a B****** of a landlord. It's been ongoing now for 29 months & finally managed to secure the services of an excellent solicitor.

Have a final appointment with her on Monday before the Crown Court hearing on the 20th.

My disabled wife & I have documented all the problems with written notifications to the local authority, police, landlord - all of which has been ignored. We have even been threatened but unfortunately for the parties concerned, it was videoed. All this evidence was given to solicitors & we have been informed that we have an extremely strong case to sue for damages.

The best info that was passed to us was that the local authority is also being sued for damages as well as negligence under the Housing Act 2004. My solicitor is also attempting to sue the local authority under the Human Rights Act.

It has been extremely difficult for me to hold my temper in check as the situation was despicable, but I'm very glad I did so as it is more than possible that the claims for damages could end up purchasing a home outright - that will be nice but I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch.

with the info you've stated already, is it possible for you to seek legal restitution for the stress caused? Is there any noise abatement laws where you are?

Thanks SJ. I'm afraid one of my most volotile pet hates is authorities bringing in various laws but when they are quoted in a case, they get ignored.

Had I been single, I would have just upped & walked away as I don't walk into trouble, rather walk away from it. In this case, I've said enough is enough & used their laws against them. Unfortunately, should we win & win big, at the end of the day, it's us, the taxpayers who end up paying for it.

What I think "Someguy" needs to do is to look into the legal side of the situation & if he can do what I've done, then go for it. I personally believe in "Quality of Life" & live & let live, but when situations like ours crop up, whether or not one has a long or short fuse, people tend to forget that a fuse MUST reach it's detonation point!

good luck "Someguy" - all the best.

Good luck, someguy. Much good advice here.

On a lighter note, I would send the neighbour a kebab laced with a lot of tasteless phenolphthalein. Some 2 hours after eating the meal, he will have intense bowel spasms followed by continuous projectile diarrhoea.

A few meals like that would cause him to keep quiet then move, and, with luck, may give him permanent IBS.

Someguy--tough situation.

Continue to call the Police for purposes of documentation. Be there when the Sheriff arives and express that this is a repeat issue. This will cause them to ramp up their actions as well.

May need to file a harrassment charge if it continues. Consulting an attorney might not hurt and could encourage the Management to do something.

Good luck.

One other thought: if they're bothering someguyincanada, they're probably bothering other tenants.

Might be a good time to get to know the neighbors....

Rather than going to the trouble of organizing tenents and hiring lawyers while keeping notes and records of all disturbances, maybe it's just "time to say goodbye" and leave the building.

That's Good Advice Blurf, I had a similar situation out here once, The Lady has since cleaned up Her act and I no longer live next to Her. She was partying too much and getting pregnant afterwards. But as to Her being anything But My neighbor, Most Women I've found don't want a fat guy(Me) as a Boyfriend, So I don't go out too much. Especially since I live in a mobile home park and don't drive a cool car. sigh...

Joker, you are trying to do something about your weight, so many kudos from me and a car doesn't reflect the YOU.

The car you may want today, may not be the one you want tomorrow or in three years. Been here done that.

I own a 68 and a 89 Camaro, not the best cars, when you have kids and animals.

Nice, But I like a Horse, Whats a Camaro in nature? I've never heard of an animal named Camaro, but If that is the car You like fine, My Dad wouldn't touch F-body cars, He mentioned a reason but It's been a long time. I like Fords as that is what I was raised with, And Dad had two Chevys, One a rattletrap Chevy station wagon that He returned(It was new for 1968) and later on a Chevy Nova for a bit, He later had a '71 Mercury Marquis(see below, Dads was White and had no vinyl roof) two door that My brother inherited and kept for a while. Now there was a Car with an engine.

I like station wagons for the practicality. They also tend to get somewhat better mileage than minivans.
