The kitties wanna ES.........LOL. As long as we're fantasizing about getting free stuff from Intel... ...I'll take a retail box Core i7 965 and SmackOver mainboard. Might as well make it a kit with 6GB of certified DDR3 RAM. Cruiser Gateway GT5692 L-f-S Edition -Phenom X4 9650 CPU -4GB 667MHz DDR2 RAM -500GB SATA HD -Vista x64 SP1 -BOINC 6.2.19 32-bit client -SSE3 optimized 32-bit apps |

The kitties wanna ES.........LOL. Sounds like a real fantasy alright, Just like the USDA backed mortgage which is a Sick Joke to those like with a $10,884 income(tax free, Which may as well be $0 for all the good It does Me, a $30,000 house with It's own land in California? There isn't any such thing except places that are fixer uppers and I can't do that type of work anymore) and that are permanently disabled, At least I have an old ES cpu(paid for), Hear that "Who?" take a look at My computers, I have a QX6700 B1(ES) and a pair of B3 cpus(QX6700 and a Q6600), I also have a Q9300 M1 cpu. And I'm a free agent on Seti now, I'm not a joiner anymore either, So please don't sign Me up. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

hey, hey, Francois Hello Heinz, nice stuff :-) I am intending to build something similar (5420's, and an Asus Z7S workstation board). Unfortunately the board appeared to be malfunctioning, so I've sent it back for replacement and it will probably be a while before I have that thing up and running. I'm interested to see how they compare. Regards, John. |

You know your way around the hardware and opti too....... Heh hell yeah. I've been around the hardware scene since 94 and everything have evolved rather dramatically since then :) mainly because i've worked in a OEM environment since then and before that i repaired Commodore Amigas at the very same time as i was in hmm what is it called at your place.. high school..? i was 16 years old and soldered custom made Amigas and programmed assembly, remembered when i resoldered my main frequency ocillator on my Amiga from 28.xx mhz to 32 mhz and noticed how just about everything in the whole system was faster ... Floppy , gamespeed, sounds .. that was so hilarious!! :D Well.. My first PC ran overclocked back then also. Still remember the good times when i ran a PII 233 at PII337 just setting the bus freq and everyone was amazed because overclocking didn't exist from where i came from.. Back then we were called the "overclocked clan" cause i and my friends had a quakeworld modem clan here in Sweden, we all overclocked our PCs in one way or another if not the CPU our 3dfx boards. We got as far as 7th place of 151 registred clans in our country. Well those days.. *shedding a tear* Be well all fellow S@H friends. in the Top 20 ... still going up. Ode to a brave old processor . . . Hey, before you pass my noble QX9770 you need to pass my Q9450! Looks like you might do that in a few hours. So I've taken a hi-res screen shot for posterity, titled "Q9450's Last Stand". Yes, this Q9450 stands alone with Custer, and the guy in front of the tank at Tiananmen, and those dudes in the movie "300". (Sorry about the hyperbole.) For all we know, this Q9450 could have had a relaxing life of word processing and solitaire for that pretty administrative assistant down the hall, worshipping her through its integrated web cam 8-hours every day! No,it did forsake that life for the rough and tumble world of SETI, now covered with keloids from the slings and arrows of a 'rageous war. I can't wait to get my hands on an i7! (My apologies, old Q9450.) Bob Mahoney |

Am I dreaming for the RAC average went down about 200 points compare to last week for everybody? the units of this week seems to return less on the crunching time. |

Am I dreaming for the RAC average went down about 200 points compare to last week for everybody? Yes, I've noticed it. Seems to be about 2% or 3% reduction. The work unit mix changes a lot. Also, the rate of change and direction of change of your RAC in comparison to other hosts can be impacted by the version of BOINC you run and the size of the queue of pending work you have configured here. For example, when the high-reward WUs (HVAR-wu's) appear, some hosts process them immediately and get a quick uptick in RAC, whereas others of us have it work through our queue, with the RAC increase averaged over time. So there is a lot of jumpiness in the Top Hosts list. Bob |

Am I dreaming for the RAC average went down about 200 points compare to last week for everybody? It's hard to tell, but 200 points out of 8000 is only about 2.5% and I'd be surprised if the mix varied less than that on a weekly basis. Also, your top host is actually doing VHAR work (aka shorties) from today, plus medium-range work from October 27. That's a consequence of a large queue, and many of the other top hosts have similar effects. Joe |

On shorties, it is less memory banded, and more crunshing with the execution unites, Core i7 advantage on memory bandwith is less obvious. Hyperthreading still give a 25% boots on Execution , but it is not enough to catch the 8 real cores of the MAC ... I hope the mix of shorties decrease soon :) |

On shorties, it is less memory banded, and more crunshing with the execution unites, Core i7 advantage on memory bandwith is less obvious. Yes, it is rather novel that your Nehalem with the 64-bit release 42 ap has a rather strong credit/hour penalty for the shorties which most other platforms consider a delightful high-reward snack. What is really rather odd is that the 64-bit release 42 ap, which has a significant advantage over the 32-bit release 41 running on another Nehalem for Angle Ranges below the VHAR range has such a big disadvantage in that specific comparison in VHAR. That suggests a possibly "opportunity" in the code. |

Am I dreaming for the RAC average went down about 200 points compare to last week for everybody? Mine went down 100 points in the last 4 days but it is going up again. I thought it was due to the insane AP WU which I stopped doing. |

Core i7 just touched for the 1st time to spot of fastest single processor CPU machine (Rank 13): for few days, it will go up and down, because I had some down time few weeks ago, and i ll pay the price on the averate, and I am sure the QX9770 will show they teeth to try to keep the spot. it is all good! who? ...and its even using Windows Vista! Who says Vista is bloated and slow?! Do You have to even ask? I'm sure someone could pop up and say that in here. But that wouldn't be Me as I have no idea If It is or not. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

OzzFan meant who without ?, alas anybody, but leaning toward linux user(s) ( i assume anyway ) ( this is written in bloated OS called vista, and i am happy for it ) |

OzzFan meant who without ?, alas anybody, but leaning toward linux user(s) [irony on]And I thought the "?" had just slipped to the end of the sentence...[/irony off] Mine too is written using "bloatware". To my mind, without MS there would not be enough 'puters out there for there to be a *nix community. That's not to say that I agree with everything MS does but you have to recognise the contribution that the company has made. F. |

I'm with Fred on this one. De facto standards bring prices down and create an equity amongst competing manufacturers after they embrace the standard. Same thing as when IBM came out with the first standardized PC. For sure, it was a clumsy, disgusting machine. But look where that open-architecture hardware has brought us. In the long run it didn't do IBM a whole lot of good, did it? Sure was beddy beddy goot for Intel, though. Bob |
