While We're waiting for the Seti Servers to be worked on(Monday), I thought I'd put up this here thread, Enjoy!

I have a New motherboard to show off to You out there that like New stuff(And I wish I had one too):

Gigabyte EX58-Extreme v0.2 motherboard(the Motherboard is still subject to minor changes as the Release is supposed to be in a month or so).

I found these pics and a few others here. Enjoy. :D

Next Pics:

I found something on DFI's entry into the X58 race over at TweakTown

It may not have a 1.65v ram limit as DFI seems to not have had a problem up to 1.9v. Just click on the picture for the Article(all of 1 page). :D

Note: Beware TweakTown is not Adblocker software friendly, Use of NoScript is highly recommended there. :p

MSI has their Eclipse X58 motherboard over at the Hardware Zone(No FDD port anymore!!):

And just in Time for Halloween We have the Asus P6T Deluxe in all It's gory(er glory;)) over at:
the Hardware Zone

Foxconn has redesigned their X58 Renaissance motherboard chipset cooling.

New X58 Renaissance design? NB cooler looks kinda like a speaker.

This X58 Renaissance is at 2.9GHz according to Tom's.

Memory speed seems kinda low, Must be early on. :D

They've been busy, Either Foxconn has redesigned their X58 Renaissance motherboard or they have quite a few versions of It.

Now Biostar is getting into the X58 motherboard arena, While Abit has exited the building looking for Elvis leaving their IX58-MAX to die on the vine:

Abit IX58-MAX (Extinct?)

I'm a bit torn between the MSI and the DFI motherboards of course. From what I've read the right DDR3 memory(1.65v compliant @ 1600) and a X58 motherboard will have about 38GB/sec vs 8-9GB/sec on LGA775 PCs for bandwidth, X58 should crunch like nobody's business, Especially overclocked. :D NDA is supposed to be lifted sometime around November 15th and then maybe some reviews will happen, Until then the info is pretty sparse(Like searching for Water above ground in the Sahara without any idea where the nearest Oasis is). :D

Oh Yea! X58 Motherboards...
When my Core i7 Rig is built in Feb. I'll probably be using the Asus P6T Deluxe.

Can't Wait One Bit!

I'm not really a extreme computer expert, so any help is appreciated when It comes round to my Build.

EDIT: Anyone heard anymore info about the Core i7 Release Date Yet? Wikipedia still mentions Nov 2008.

14th or 15th I think.

As to the motherboards I'll have to see some reviews before I could really choose, But so far the MSI and DFI look good, DFI says cpus so far haven't croaked at 1.9v for the ram and are trying for 2.0 to 2.1v for the ram, MSI's Eclipse motherboard just looks good, Kinda like My Asus P5K Deluxes do only with a bigger cpu and a smaller NB Chip and less heat from the NB Chip as a result.

Oh and most of the Pictures have embedded links in them for Your reading and viewing pleasure.

Where did you get that i7 release date from?

MSI's board looks good as well. If all the boards come out at near same specifications, it'll probably come down to price...
I also read in a thread over at Overclockers NZ that the P6T could be up to NZ$650 (roughly US$340)

So if this build of mine goes ahead, I be placing 3x2GB DDR3 RAM Modules into the slots...

One of the websites that I read mentioned that date, The DFI could cost about $300 according to Bit-Tech.

Here's something more concrete on the release date.

I'm really looking forward to the energy efficent Quad-core Nehalem mobile chipsets and processors to come out. Also does Apple have plans to integrate this new architecture?

Hi Crunchers, very nice MoBo's JokerCPoC, on thing stands out, they all have 3 or 4 pairs off memory slots.
Have to make plans for a new build. ;^).

All of them seem to have 3 pair, The architecture doesn't support from what little I've read more than 3 banks(pairs) and Thanks.

Gigabyte is going to get rid of the pink ram slots(replacing them with White slots), Yay!

Yeah can You say lots of Memory?, As I think 24GB is quoted here and there.

A note on the DFI motherboard, I noticed as has everybody else I'm sure that It is Naked, That's cause DFI is going to put some Thermalright type heatsinks on there that are being made in house @ DFI.

The DFI may not have a 1.65v ram limit as DFI seems to not have had a problem with cpus and ram up to 1.8v to 1.9v so far and may support 2.0v to 2.1v ram.

Just click on the pictures for the Articles.

Now the MSI X58 Eclipse looks and resembles the P5K Deluxes which I like a lot, Beyond that I only know It's the middle of 3 motherboards, with the Platinum as their least expensive X58 model and the most expensive one isn't even named yet.

Sometime during November it is expected Intel will release its next-generation of processors under the branding Core i7. There are only three Core i7 processors expected in 2008 and they will target upper mainstream and performance users. The Core i7 965 XE will be an Extreme Edition processor running at 3.20 GHz, featuring an 8 MB cache and will be priced at $999. The Core i7 940 will run at 2.93 GHz, feature an 8 MB cache and cost $562. The most affordable Core i7 will be the 920, with a 2.66 GHz clock-speed, an 8 MB cache and a $284 price-tag. All three processors feature four-cores, a 130 W TDP and will offer a substantial performance increase over current Core 2 processors.

Also all 3 of the above will feature Hyper-Threading,
so there will be 8 virtual cores to process SETI.
The Core i7 processors are designed for the x58 chipset.

Shouldn't that be 2.83GHz?

...depending on software run. As AnandTech has reported, some applications will run about the same on the new Nehalem processors while others will get a 20% or more boost in performance.

There is one tidbit of info on that 2.66GHz part, It will be locked, So there will be no overclocking from It, Why You ask? Largely Money as then why would one bother to buy the more expensive ones, When one could overclock the snot out of a cheapie instead. I would hope this is false of course as a $284.00 price is better than $562.00 would be.

As I understand it, the same rules apply as Core2 processors. All Extreme Edition CPUs are unlocked and all standard CPUs are locked.
