Temps are rising in the northwest. Our usual highs of around 56f are going to about 90f for the next few days, for the first time I'm running at default speeds. It's wierd having my temps in the 30s instead of the 60s.So back to work on my h2o project.

I miss the year round average temps of 45-60F in the northwest (Eureka, CA). I remember one July 4th when we set a record high temp of 72F. That was a real "heat wave".

Summer is here. I have had to turn my computers down also. 97-102 the last few days where I live. Santa Barbara County, Santa Ynez Valley. I can still crank them up over night. So RAC will fall a little.

What base are you stationed at my barracks had no air either when I was in the Air Force in San Antonio TX in the summer and it was H O T! Even the California boys could barely handle it they said it was like swimming due to the heat and humidity there temps well over 100.

If I were to turn My 3 down, It would get colder in here w/the swamp cooler running, So I better not.

Hi Mark!

We all know that you run your rigs at the absolute outer limits, wouldn't you be better off winding them all down a couple of notches rather than shutting a couple down completely?

Or you could put ducting going outside, and make a hole in the wall for the backside of the refrigerator unit... LOL...

Oh, these suggestions have all been considered........

Right now, I have an attic fan going at about 1600 cfm, all garage doors closed, so it is sucking in the cool air of the dawn.......
Later I may have to turn the AC on......

Am I the only one who has considered cutting holes in the house to deal with Seti cruncher cooling?

I'm a strange cat, I know......but then.....of course.....I AM the Kitty Man!!!

Well here in the desert north of Adelaide, summer is 45 degrees C + , so nothing like that will help. Winding the machines back & going to MacDonalds to sit in the cool is sometimes the only option. I have considered running pipes under the garden for heat dissipation though ... but then it isn't my house ... LoL

LOL.....nooooooooo..wouldn't cut any holes in it if it's not your house........
But I wonder if the real estate agents have ever considered marketing a home as 'Seti Crunching Friendly'.....IE, having a computer cooling cavern built into the home........now THAT'S a big stretch.......

Great thing about Tacoma...We usually only get a couple days in the 90's the rest of the summer I open the basement door and turn on the Big fan I installed in the Attic and my store stays pretty comfortable. Only had to use the A/C twice last summer...Of course at home it is a different story but I have a window unit in the window of my playroom where my computers are...Funny how this becomes the favorite room in the summer...Heck I can even get it cleaned for free...(Other words...My girlfreind thinks I'm a pig...)
In a couple weeks I have to go back to LA and I hear it is already hot there...Do have A/C there.

No your not the only one! I own my house,so can do what I want.No GF or wife, just a kitty who's always interested in watching whatever I do,and already knows how nuts I am.I'm still building my h2o setup and have thought of putting the radiator outside, one inch and a half hole should be large enough for the inlet and outlet hoses.

My main cruncher runs around 50 degrees normally. If it hits 60, MBM5 runs boinccmd with -set_run_mode never 300

That stops BOINC for five minutes, temperatures come down, and then BOINC starts itself back up.

... and when I notice that, I clean the heatsink.

I wanted to cut a hole in the floor of my computer closet and mount a 1000 CFM squirrel-cage fan to the underside (with a HEPA filter on the intake) and blow in cool, filtered air from our unfinished basement. The air there is dry and about 10 degrees cooler.

My other half thought that I'd lost my mind.
