http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6604775898578139565 Peace, Propaganda & the Promised Land provides a striking comparison of U.S. and international media coverage of the crisis in the Middle East, zeroing in on how structural distortions in U.S. coverage have reinforced false perceptions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This pivotal documentary exposes how the foreign policy interests of American political elites--oil, and a need to have a secure military base in the region, among others--work in combination with Israeli public relations strategies to exercise a powerful influence over how news from the region is reported. . http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6604775898578139565 As I stated somewhere else: whether someone (or a country) is your enemy or your ally is just a product of what your government and media are making you believe through propaganda. Account frozen... |

No, BS. You couldn't get me more wrong. But that under the Nazi regime the Jews and Communists were considered as enemies, that was because of propaganda. That the Germans during the Third Reich were so eager to go to war, was because of massive propaganda (remember that speech of "Wollt ihr den totalen Krieg?" ["Do you want the total war?"]). That even in your country communists are considered as enemies is because of propaganda. Also, for example: that in former Yugoslavia the Serbians, Bosnians, and Croatians who lived peacefully together when it was still Yugoslavia, suddenly considered each other as enemies, that was because of propaganda. The splitting of the former Soviet Union into all these separate countries, that was also because of propaganda. That while the GDR existed, armed force aimed their weapons at people who wanted to go West into "freedom", was because of propaganda. Even the Uprising in 1953 started because of propaganda (mainly by RIAS, a West Berlin-based radio sender). That Jews and Palestinians in Israel can't live together without fighting anymore, is because of propaganda. When Muslims, Jews and Christians hate each other (and even members of other denominations among themselves), then because of propaganda. Media (and propaganda in general) have a lot of influence on people. And the media have been misused to steer people into having a certain opinion about other countries, people, convictions, and faiths often enough. Account frozen... |

For your own sake calm down and take some deep breaths before screaming at everyone you think is slightly pinker than you. You will do your bodily health no good, never mind that of your (non)existent soul! Try listening to yourself and think what sort of appearance you have to the sane folk in the world and what sort of impression you create about your own country. You have the greatest talent for confirming bad impressions that I have EVER come across. |

The 3rd definition of enemy, according to Merriam-Webster is: 3 a: a military adversary. So by definition, those who utilized their military strength to oppose Hitler's desire for conquest, were in fact his enemies
Communist are no longer considered "enemies" of the United States. Instead they are deemed to foolish to learn from history or incapable of freeing themselves from oppression.
Of course, it couldn't be something as simple as an oppressive government controlling their territory with an iron fist, and it's just an INCREDIBLE coincidence that the EXACT same thing is also happening in China as we speak |

You may not have noticed, but my previous comment did not contain even one exclamation point. Of course you'd have to study something outside of your book of all truth for the weakest minds to understand what that means. |

Well Communist(RED) China seems to have learned how to succeed, As they have a capitalist economy that is largely state run and owned, As a result their Military has plenty of Money for Modernization and Expansion, Where as the US Navy built 40 ships(these are not boats, their ships) the US Navy also scrapped about 46 ships, The Chinese have built 80 ships and scrapped none, But then We're funding their Navy(Chinas Navy is called the PLAN[Peoples Liberation Army Navy]), They even have a Carrier and carrier capable escort ships, Of course the carrier was bought by a front company, sent through the Bosporus straight in Turkey and then towed to China to be a Casino, Soon after arrival the front company folded and the carrier(Varyag or Shi Lang(As It's being towed to China)) went into Drydock for work to complete the ship and give It PLAN Navy colors(White w/Black numbers) and some of their ships have paint jobs that make them look like ours too(White numbers w/black highlights on battleship gray, Note the 511 and 512), very suspicious, The usual PLAN colors are much lighter as indicated by the Carriers paint job and others.(I realize that the US and Chinese ships in what looks like identical colors aren't quite the same physically(anchor placement is different at or near the Bow, The Bow is that pointed end of the ship to those with no formal military background and/or training), But to those Who don't know any better, Need I say more?) (Note: I'm not anti-Chinese at all). The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Yep, that's the same thing people said about the USSR once upon a time too. In 2006, the average income in China was only $2,025.00 (poverty stricken by western standards). Couple that with a negative net migration rate(-0.39 migrants per 1000 persons) and 8% of the population living in what they call poverty (about $125 a year) and you'll start to see the REAL China hidden behind her military. Now I realize everything about China isn't bad, but compared to western civilizations, they're pretty far from successful. |

I wonder if propaganda is still called propaganda when it's intend is to reach peace and mutual tolerance and understanding... The word propaganda has become a pejorative. Rice: Jewish housing plan undermines peace talks http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080614/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/rice By ANNE GEARAN, AP Diplomatic Writer Sat Jun 14, 4:17 PM ET JERUSALEM - The United States took Israel to task Saturday for a planned expansion of Jewish homes in the portion of Jerusalem that Palestinians claim for the capital of a future state. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said such moves undermine the U.S.-backed peace talks. Rice, while making what has become nearly a monthly trip to assess the negotiations, said Israeli housing expansions are a recurring problem. In particular, she says she will discuss the latest announcement of 1,300 new homes in east Jerusalem with every Israeli official she sees. With peace talks under way, Rice said, now is a time to build confidence on both sides. "This is simply not helpful to building confidence," she told reporters before arriving in the Israeli capital. An aide to moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday that Abbas will insist that Rice pressure Israel to stop the construction. At the same time, an Israeli government spokesman said that Israel was looking forward to "constructive talks" with Rice. Israel has committed to halt all settlement activity. But the country insists it has the right to build housing for Jews in east Jerusalem because it annexed that sector of the city shortly after capturing it in the 1967 Mideast war. Israel's announcement on Friday brought to more than 3,000 the number of homes Israel has approved for construction on land that Palestinians claim since the renewal of the U.S.-supported peace talks late last year. "We firmly condemn this project, which reveals the Israeli government's intention to destroy peace," Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said. The fate of Jerusalem, site of shrines sacred to Judaism, Islam and Christianity, lies at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Palestinians hope to make east Jerusalem the capital of their future state and say continued Israeli construction there makes it difficult to persuade ordinary Palestinians to support peace talks and not violence. The future of the city recently became an issue in the U.S. presidential election, when Democrat Barack Obama alarmed Palestinians and Arab-Americans by saying Jerusalem should be Israel's capital and remain undivided. He did not initially mention the Arab claim. Rice and other U.S. officials have publicly scolded Israel over housing before, but her frustration was evident Saturday. Over the year and a half that Rice has been making regular peace missions, there has been a pattern of provocative Israeli housing announcements just before or just after her visit. "Unfortunately there have been a few whether I'm coming or not," Rice told reporters. Her clipped tone and arched brows revealed annoyance. "Look, it's a problem, and it's a problem that we're going to address with the Israelis," she said. Although Israeli authorities say the announcements are not related, Palestinians say the timing is clearly meant to placate hard-liners in Israel who oppose the land concessions that would be inevitable if the U.S.-sponsored peace process ever bore fruit. President Bush predicted Saturday that an Israeli-Palestinian agreement is possible by year's end. A total of 270,000 Jews live in the West Bank, and an additional 180,000 live in east Jerusalem. Privately, the Palestinians acknowledge that Israel will hold on to much of the disputed land where Jews live, and are prepared to trade it for equal amounts of Israeli territory. But they say the reports of continued construction weaken support in the Palestinian street for Abbas' administration. Abbas briefly called off peace talks over the construction earlier this year. Rice also said Israel has not fully honored its pledge to make practical improvements in the daily lives of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, where as a security precaution the Israeli military restricts Palestinian movement and controls details of ordinary life. There are a few small success stories, such as demonstration projects in which Palestinian security forces are operating with some autonomy, Rice said. "But it's not enough, and there certainly and clearly needs to be more," she said. "I understand the security considerations as well as anyone but the obligation was undertaken to improve the lives of the Palestinians, and we're going to have to work very hard if we're going to make that true in a broader sense."
