If we are incapable of finding peace in ourselves,
it is pointless to search elsewhere.

A drummer's job is to beat out rhythm. It needs to be clear, strong and steady. A saxophonist, by contrast, is a rebel and a rule-breaker. To play this instrument well, you must work against the structure of the piece and inject it with spontaneity. In life, as in music, there are many parts we can play. Sometimes, we get to swap from one to the other with surprising speed. But we get into terrible trouble when we try to play both at the same time. It's best to decide what you are trying to achieve.

Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond logic.

btw: if you've never read "Dune", you won't get it.

"Fear is the mindkiller.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face
my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone
past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there
will be nothing. Only I will remain."

The Litany Against Fear, conceived in ancient times by a Bene Gesserit
Sister and passed on to generation after generation.

I have seen the face of death and thus I fear nothing.

(Which is not a quote from any Herbert book, but is my general life philosophy).

Have read all of Frank, and his son (Brian's), Dune novels, as well as most of Frank's other works. (Presently reading Under Pressure for the third time. Dated, but interesting.)

don't even think about challenging me, dude. Wrong woman, wrong time. If you just ignore me, I will ignore you. And that is all you have any right to expect from me.

If the wild animals don't seem to like you, maybe there is a reason why... ;)

Dedicated to my neighbor who cursed me out for not restraining the duck I was petting from chasing her down and nipping at her toes... Maybe she just wasn't bright enough to know that ducks have a rounded beak and no teeth... And anyway, who appointed me the neighborhood duck keeper... lol
