Done a bit of trawling...

Not counting You Know Who! there are no cpus labelled QX9650 or QX9770 on SETI yet, but I found these, and they are on World Community Grid.
Trawling through all the hosts for all the projects is not something I really have time for, but got lucky with WCG!

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Extreme CPU X9650 @ 3.00GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 6]

Big difference in TC between the 1st & 2nd even though there is only a .2ghz diff, & the day between them would not make up the large gap.

You can add me to the list......
Just brought it online about an hour or so ago.
Fiddled with settings just a bit, 'cuz I gotta go back to work in a few hours, but I got it running at 4.5ghz with 1.5vcore. I have just begun to play, but I bet I have it at about 98% of what it's gonna do.

SLAN3, 05B, L739A761...I have not decoded that yet. CPUZ reports stepping 6.

410 x 11, hope I don't cook the poor thing. I can't monitor my phase temps right now, 'cuz my main rig puked last night, and that's the one that has the datalogger software on it that I usually monitor the phase temps with.

Running crunch3r's 2.4v SSE3 code. Just itchin' to see if who? comes out with his SSE4 code....calling Dr. who?.....stat!

Should be a screamer, I ran it at the same settings as my Q6600 for an hour or two, and it seemed to shave a couple of minutes off of the crunch times at exactly the same settings. Either better prefetching or the increased onboard cache size, or both.

I had a few errors at first, while I was playing with a few settings, but it seems to be crunching along OK right now. We'll see what it does for a few hours while I catch some ZZZZZZZZZs. I'll hit the update button for you folks when I get up (or wake up in the middle on the night, most likely).

The kitties made me do it.

Blame it on the kitties.

4.5 GHz, geez. If that doesn't become the #1 quad-core host in short order, I'll eat my shorts. That is one speedy rig, congrats!

Darn!!

I just want one too.

Quick and dirty speed comparison of you rig show this:
----------------------------------------
4500 mhz Pen = 3500 secs 54.33 creds
3942 Mhz Q = 4360 secs 54.32 creds
14% higher clockspeed
24% faster crunchspeed

4500 Mhz pen = 3100 secs 64 creds
3942 Mhz q = 3845 secs 64 creds
14% higher clockspeed
24% higher crunchspeed
-----------------------------------------

Well congrats to your new speedrig Mark!

If i multiply your Q RAC of around 4800 creds/24H with the new cpu you should land around 5800 creds/24H with the new one at present speed.

hehehehehe!!! Congratulations! I wondered how many billion nanoseconds it would take before you cracked under the strain! Now you have your hobby time well and truly booked up for a little while... I'm curious too.. perhaps you might hit 5+G with a bit more tweaking.

I'll post the new list again in a couple of days.

Keep a log of what you do, and put a guide together - perhaps you could recover the cost of the chip by providing an interesting article on overclocking for one or some of the big technology sites.

Well done! :-)

Just took a look at the speed you are producing...

Measured floating point speed 4590.15 million ops/sec
Measured integer speed 13687.85 million ops/sec

HOLY BAT<bleep> BATMAN!!!!!

Methinks the kitties got into some REALLY good catnip...

Have fun playing this weekend, but take time out for the usual Packers debacle in Detroit.

Gotta luv that catnip!!!
Currently running at 4.6ghz, 460 x 10. FP 4681.47, INT 13966.47...
Bumped the vcore one notch this morning before I left for work. It seemed to get rid of the computation errors I was getting, but 1 core was locked up tonight when I got home.
Just bumped the vcore one more notch, now at 1.55vcore at the cpu. We'll see if that holds.
I gotta spend the next hour or so trying to get my daily driver back in operation after the cpu socket failure when I tried to change cpus.
I will be watching the Pack take on the Lions tomorrow.

And the kitties are zooming!

Zooming indeed. I'm an outsider now, and have no idea how rapidly your transistors are shifting characteristics with that high a supply voltage, other than it is far faster than at spec.

While it lasts, it sure is fast:

Here is a comparison of execution time vs. angle range for results processed by the same host ID (3685026) when it was a Q6600 Conroe Quad running about 3.942 GHz vs. the current Penryn Quad X9650 running at several frequencies, but mostly, I think at 4.600 GHz

The Q6600 samples are not a very extensive set of data--just the ones still reporting on the web page as of earlier today.

Still, I think this gives a bit firmer picture than a single point comparison.

You've got Ice Water for blood in those veins, Oh and Happy Thanksgiving.

And happy Thanksgiving to you and all my other Seti brethren as well.
Gotta go to bed now so I can get up and watch that Packer game.

Peace and kitties to all........

Here is a fresh graph, which shows you catching a little bit of higher angle range easy credit stuff:

In this version I explicitly required the 4600 speed text in the report for you Penryn-generation quad. I assumed all results still displaying on the web page from its predecessor were actually running at 3960, though the application had some trouble reporting that (see the same on my Conroes). The 4600 restriction may be helpful if you make changes. At the moment, it just excluded one that reported 4510.

It'll be at 4600 for a bit. Just tried 4700, but no go, and I gotta go watch the Packer game and stuff myself with turkey. So it will not report any more results until I get back late tonight to hit the update button again.
I am trying to train the kitties to hit the update button once in a while, but they keep stepping on the wrong keys....LOL.
