Seti@home 4.05 boinc just done benchmarks and the results were the following 1483 double precision MIPS(Whetstone) per CPU 2025 interger MIPS(Dhrystone) per CPU. Is that good? What does it mean? My pc is a Dell 2.8ghz with 80 gb hard drive and 520 ram and pentium 4 processors with Ht.Windows Xp Pro.I would love to understand these results.I am currently doing 2 wu's at once in on av 3 hours and 15 mins. I am sure somebody will give you a better answer than I can , but basicly the Benchmarks are a test of your processors ability to perform caculations per CPU. Sounds like you have a standard Office "style" PC maybe a little better than most home users might have. I have 3 different pcs , basicly 1 slow, 1 mid range, 1 fast pc. the slow PC is on 24/7 , the Midrange PC and Fast PC are on as much as they can be when there not being used for other important tasks, like playing Games =) Here is my benchmark test of my faster PC to give you a something to compare to your own PC. AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2400+ Pentium Number of CPUs 1 Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition,SP2(05.01.2600.00) Memory 1023.48 MB Cache 976.56 KB Swap space 2463.42 MB Total disk space 55.89 GB Free Disk Space 39.44 GB Measured floating point speed 2368.95 million ops/sec Measured integer speed 4229.89 million ops/sec You can View most peoples PC benchmarks under there profiles. Hope this helps a little. |

I have a 3.4ghz w/ 1gig and consider a total of 4000 good and topped out somewhere above 4100. I'd say its good enough, the benchmarks are used to determine the credit you receive. I take 3h 3min for 2 units so your system is behaving well. |

My 2.2 ghz emachine gets similar numbers but does a work unit in 5-7 hours. Measured floating point speed 1372.52 million ops/sec Measured integer speed 2682.86 million ops/sec http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/show_host_detail.php?hostid=4277 But you've got multiple cpu's with hyperthreading. So, you can likely crunch several work units at once. |

Where is this glossary? I would like to understand more about the benchmark procces. 2604 Whetstone 4973 Drystone These are per seti when it does the benchmark thing. Are these good? Thanks Patrick - Leesburg, VA >
> For BOINC Documentaion: Click Me! > > > > |

Are these good? > > Thanks You are welcome... click on my signature ... right wehre is for BOINC Documentation: Click me! :) ... there is a WHOLE bunch of stuff to read... Click on the icons that say things like "Click Me for more", click on one that does not say anything, it does not hurt. Though, I warn you, I have over 250 pages for your enjoyment. I thought I had more on benchmarking, but there is not as much as I thought. Ah, found it... Ok, I made a couple quick changes and made one of my old college lectures available under benchmarks. Look for the guy in the white coat. That has been on my list for a long time, I have 30-40 lectures that need updating and formatting and then need to be glued in to the glosssary and index.
For BOINC Documentaion: Click Me! |
