Phobos died last spring. She was 17 years old. She had Cancer of the face, and it was about to reach her brain. Radiation and chemotherapy extended her life by about a year.

She was a very intelligent cat. I dont think she went up on the house to fix the roof. Ed

When I first brought Maggie home I put the carrier down and the three old cats gathered around. When O'Leary saw her Manx tail he said, "Its a rabbit."
Calahan said, "No it doesnt have floppy ears." Then Clio said, "Its a little bear, we'd better kill it before it gets bigger." After some getting used to they didnt try to kill her, especially when she became #2 in the pecking order. Ed

I made a visit today to my local shelter to visit the kitties and drop off a donation check.
What was really heartening today was that although they are still overflowing with standby kitties, there were a dozen or more that had their adoptions in the works and they were just waiting to be picked up for the journey to their new homes.
I left much happier than a number of weeks ago when there were not too many that were lucky enough to have been chosen for adoption.
It was a good kitty day!!

Our problem here is Feral Cats. Kids come to our 3 major colleges with unspayed cats, not realizing you can't have them in the dorms (duh?) and instead of giving them to a shelter or sending them home to their family, they're just released into the wooded lots nearby.

We have a great Feral Cat Spay & Rescue group that a friend of ours runs but they're too overwhelmed because just when they've whittled down the numbers it starts again every September.
