I'd like this thread to be a place where you can post your own brief movie reviews after you've visited the cinema or seen one on DVD, etc.

I'd like it not to be a 'my favorite movies' thread as I think that's been done already. I think alot of people decide what movies to see based on word of mouth from friends, acquaintances, coworkers, etc so why not here as well?

Also, if you want to post links to some movie critics' review of new releases that's welcome too.

Please specify what genre the movie is eg Drama, Horror, Romance, Sci-Fi, etc.

If you absolutely think your movie may contain SPOILER information please at the top of your post make it blatantly clear by posting something like:

###### WARNING ---MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS #######

With the movie title right underneath so others may scroll downwards. Pics of the 'movie poster', DVD box also welcome.

Feel free to use a 1-5 star rating system whereas 1 is a godawful waste of popcorn and a 5 is something so grand you're considering ending your own life as there's nothing left in the world worth seeing.

:-P

2002 The Time Machine

I've seen this remake before but it's actually on TBS network at the moment. Guy Pierce is the actor who invents his time machine. I forget the actor that plays the evil underground cannibal king or whatever he's called but it's good some good efects. Anyone else seen this?

In this version the reason the world is divided between the normal human survivors and the underground mutants is a disaster caused by mining explosives on the moon that shatter it sending pieces crashing to earth. 3 stars.

Just like the other version of time machine in that it ends before the end of the book. Why do that ?

Someone was trying to attract the girls, mushy, way too mushy.

True. I forget how that actually goes.

But I'm biased in favor of time travel movies.

How do you rate it against the original?

I've never seen the original, unfortunately,

It's not like any other western I've ever seen, and I've seen a bunch of 'em.

:)

I bawl my eyes out when watching Saving Private Ryan.

It's on the thing. Maybe Dogbytes likes it.

Resident Evil: Extinction

I liked it but I'm a big fan.

Critics booed at it. Guess they weren't paid enough to give it the thumbs up.

In the Valley of Elah - Good movie but somewhat depressing. A different look at what war does to the people that fight in it than the Bush admin would approve of. Good thing the right wing hasn't taken over Hollywood yet.

Quiet Cool

Great 80s movie staring James Remar. See, Joe Dylanne (Remar) is this tough big city cop that gets a call for help from a friend that lives in a small California country town. Joe travels to the town and discovers... well you gotta see it. Nick Cassavetes plays the handsome bad guy.

Pride and Prejudice

Excellent romanticism. I loved it...

It's a movie done well and true to the book, I imagine, as movies can be. Fantasies in art and fiction are so valuable when they demonstrate ideals and circumstances of virtues.

I fell in love with the heroine and I'm sure the sad Mr. Darcy is a character appealing to women. I identify with him ....except I don't possess a chateau or all that money. :-P.

Miss Elisabeth Bennett is portrayed quite well and her independence of mind comes through as thoroughly as her beauty and intelligence.

Lovely!
