May be another attack of itty bitty or noisy WUs. Cricket graph shows traffic going up, Scarecrow graphs show ready to send going down even though splitter speed is going up, and in progress is on the rise. Could explain some of the connection difficulties going on right now.

I just built a quad computer last night and was unable to get any work to download, but this morning it seems to be downloading fine, but downloads are taking awhile.

Been unable to download work for over 6 hours- getting nothing but "system connect" errors.

Overnight all but one of those downloads managed to complete.
Aborted that stuck download & it then lined up another 20 or so Work Units to download. About 2/3 of them downloaded on the first couple of attempts (at around 7kB/s; usually it's closer to 60kB/s), but the rest continue to give system connect errors.

EDIT- things might be looking up. Over the last half hour or so all the Work Units finished downloading.

Running out of wu's on one computer, the Core 2 Duo. The quad is not happy about downloading new wu's either. Especially, it seems the ones due back around 9/08 and 9/09. I think.

Well, it's not just you....got that 'system connect' thingy going on here too.
Puzzling, 'cuz from the Cricket graph it looks like the server rebooted a few hours ago and bandwidth shot up.

Now it lookds like it fell again to its original position at a low level.

Hmmmmmm....not a good thing. I hope it holds at the lower level and doesn't grind to a total halt.

Read Matt's latest post:
Actually at home right now (I usually don't come in on Fridays - for my own sanity). Still, just for the record even when I'm not in the lab I do check in from time to time and I noticed we were draining work. So before the queue ran to zero I started more splitters. This is good and bad: we're filling the ready-to-send queue, but at the expense of throttling the work we are able to send out. So be it. I'm keeping my eyes on it (when taking breaks from cleaning out my basement) so don't fret...

and then compare the Cricket graph with Scarecrow's 'Result creation rate' graph:

I think we're beginning to get an idea of the problem: he can make 'em, or we can collect 'em, but the servers can't cope with both loads of traffic at the same time.

How do I do that?

Sine you're running v5.10.xx, Advanced/Preferences (on the menu), choose "Clear" (upper-right corner), and "Yes".

You helped me before on the 5.27, but how do I do I get work for the 5.27 that is running Chicken 2.4? It does not have a tab in the "advanced" to "Clear".

Thanks

Like I stated above and you may have missed, it does not have that choice. That choice only exists on the Quad.

No, what you mean is that it only exists on Boinc 5.10.13, (your Quad has that version)
and your other computers aren't running that version, they have 5.4.11 & 5.4.9,
those versions don't have local preferences, so you can't clear them!!
Have you been to the website & increased your cache settings?
I assume you must have, since your Quad has so much work, but that Cache setting
needs a minimum of 5.8.x to work, and your other computers only have 5.4.x
So you need to update Boinc on them to 5.8.16 or 5.10.13

If you have downloads pending that aren't going through, try clicking
retry communications in the Advanced tab, one or two of the downloads might
go through each time you click it, if you've very lucky.

Yeah, Getting downloads is System Connect time here on all 3 PCs of mine too(Hopefully It'll get fixed asap, In the mean time I'll let Boinc do Its job), Might be 4 PCs tomorrow If everything works on My ga-965p-ds3 that is going into PC3's case(PC2 will stay offline as Its old and once the motherboard is cleaned will be up for sale, MSI K8T Neo2-F v1.0, Opteron 165 cpu, an MSI Nvidia 4400 AGP video card w/128MB ram and 1GB PQI Dual channel DDR ram, It has an XP-120 on the cpu now), I have to do a repair install(2nd repair option) of course as the old motherboard was an Nvidia dual cpu motherboard, The PC I put back online today only needed a better psu and is now using an E4300 cpu and an Enermax 550w psu(24p), It's a psu with 36A on Its single +12v rail and is running at 3.3GHz now.
