Like I posted it here (but I have now worries that something 'bad happened' with my PC/BOINC) because, I can't get new work.

BOINC ask for new work.
But I don't get ones.

Mostly: can't connect server.
Sometimes: No work from project.

What's going?

Sutaru,
are you running an optimised app? There's a workaround that's being supported by Simon of KWSN:

hope this helps

As I have answered you before.
After the server outage the servers are being swamped in requests for work and uploading finnished WUs. So they are turning off the downloaders temporarilly from time to time to ease the load.
They are still trying to fix everything. Be patient.

That is against ghosts, that will never fix that the downloaders are down/swamped. Relax on the running around with your "news" a bit.

So I lay back and relax AND hope that I will get new work SOON! :-)

It not only corrected the 'ghost' issue, it enabled me to download a full cache of workunits as well, and I'm happily crunching units. Whatever the problems, concerning connections and Ghosts, it appears to be an effective workaround for me: and as there are increasing numbers commenting in this fashion, I feel quite justified. That said, however, I've now posted it 4 times, in various threads/fora; which should, by a simple process of osmosis, get a wide dispersion, and therefore, more people getting crunching quicker- which is what appears to have been the main problem for us all, this past 2 weeks.

Just trying to spread the good news, my friend...

@ Demiurg
O.K.! I will do! :-)

AND I thought I lost my mind/brain, because of the server outages (because I couldn't remember) ;-)

@ GreggyBee
...O.K., maybe I will do the 'trick' from Richard.
(Hope I'll not 'destroy' something! ;-)

BTW. But if I rename app_info.xml and start BOINC, BOINC will not delete Simons app if BOINC download work (and the stock app)?

Remember that the "trick" is just against ghost WUs.

Well, it was just me being senile:-)

Now it's 50/50, because of the 'trick'.

So maybe I'll wait and give other people a chance to tell their experiences?! ;-)

Carl

Actually, the 'trick' is designed to get hold of real WUs.

If it has the side-effect of reducing the number of ghosts, that's an added bonus.

I noticed that when I tried it, but I still don't get rid of my hundreds of uploads:-(
And I allready had all of the WUs I needed...

Have you re-tried any of the uploads since re-starting BOINC? From what I can see from the UK (YMMV), uploads and downloads seem to be flowing fairly freely at the moment - it's the scheduler that's been proving the stumbling-block for me.

Rename app_info.xml so it won't be recognised
Restart BOINC (service)
Update SETI - may not get through first time, but keep trying

Now I'm here and download WUs.
So I can let run BOINC like this.
Or I must finish the 'trick' to the end?
(Or if I let run BOINC all the time, then not? Only if I close BOINC?)

Restore app_info.xml to original name
Wait until all transfers have finished
Restart BOINC (service)

Thanks a lot for support!! :-)

Yepp, still getting the scheduler request failed.
But everytime I try I get some more WUs humping in.

I am having cannot connect to server problems and the servers may be temporaily down, this after Error 403 and http errors and server returned nothing even though I have four or five ghost units. SO please can someone tell me how long before I can get new work.

If you stop at this point (after step 3), you'll be crunching using the stock SETI application - slow but (hopefully) reliable.

If you do the second half of the recipe (next 3 steps), you'll be back up to full optimised speed on the same WUs you downloaded.

As someone has suggested, might be a good idea to set 'no new work' in case we still need to use the trick next time your cache runs dry.

If you are using an optimised application, please see the workaround thread)(looking for link for you... thanks Richard, you were quicker)

??? scheduler has nothing to do with uploads ???

Or do you mean that the results have been uploaded, and you're trying to get them to report?

Really?
But if I look to Windows Task Manager (I'm downloading) it say that the opt. app is running.

Or, if the download is finished, BOINC is searching an app, don't find and download then the stock app?
I'm little confused. ;-)
