Is there a suspect for my current problem? No! If you look at the Number Crunching fora, to threads Panic Mode On (4) and Help! Are the Schedulers down?, they cover this subject and speculate as to why! It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

Thanks a lot, John. How is this unfair? If we use the Wiktionary definition, fair means equitable, or reasonable. Whatever is happening, it is happening to all of us: nobody is getting preferential treatment -- the playing field is level. It may not be desirable, it may not make us happy, but it's fair. The alternative is to drag Matt, Bob, Jeff, et. al. out of bed in the middle of the night, and while that may seem desirable at 2:00am PST, sooner or later we're going to pay for that when fatigue sets in and they aren't doing their jobs. |

What I was referring to as unfair, was the desire to crunch numbers, and not being able to. |

What I was referring to as unfair, was the desire to crunch numbers, and not being able to. Here's a suggestion, why not add another project to BOINC, and set it to a low priority. I am now running SETI, Rosetta, and just added SETI Beta. Take a look through the list of projects. |

What I was referring to as unfair, was the desire to crunch numbers, and not being able to. One thing that could have been your problem was that your log shows you having problems on a Tuesday. Tuesdays are backup days for Seti and the Project is down for awhile. |

What I was referring to as unfair, was the desire to crunch numbers, and not being able to. SETI does not promise to always have work, so it's going to happen. Unlucky timing says that you may run out of work just as SETI goes down for maintenance. The good news there is, they are working on ways to be able to keep backups current and generate stats, etc. without having to shut down weekly. ... but even so, if you want to absolutely be sure of always having something to do, you need to crunch for more than one project. |
