and i wouldn't mind if it was free I spend a lot a money on you guys Electric Bill Ummm, Seti is more inclined to ask for money to keep things running, then to give things away. They did give coffee cups to the Alpha testers a short while ago though. Alpha testers are by invitation only and are expected to provide near constant feedback on the alpha versions of the software. They do a super human effort finding the bugs in the software and helping to remove them prior to the beta testers getting the software. Berkeley has lots of good ideas to put in the new versions of the software. Without the alpha and beta testers you and I would not get the newer versions of the software and those nice little things that fix our issues we have with the software. BTW, there is a whole thread on the costs involved in the number crunching area. Go here http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=34345#433281 |

Thia may seem offensive, but I offer it in kindness and with honest caring. You need to correct the spelling of "to" on the second line of your wish list to "too" for it to make grammatical sense and to make your point in the best way to state your opinion without damaging your image. I have no doubt you are very intelligent. Unfortunately, or fortunately (depending on your point of view) I am an editor by trade and these things bite me on the nose. There have got to be others out there in the seti@home community who also notice typos. I hope you appreciate this suggestion and do not take offense. |

You need to be a bit more specific as to the location of the problem. But a kind of answer, not a good one, is that the website is setup for people of many languages and to make it grammatically correct does not always translate well to other languages. Sometimes people wil ltake a section and paste it into one of those translater website sites and if the words are too correct, they don't translate well. Here is one of the websites http://www.freetranslation.com/ I cannot say if your particular 'find' is a part of this reasoning. |

To keep the number of repeated posts to a minimum please search before you create a new thread. If so, to me it seems to be gramatically correct. If you are referring to some other page please can you link to it ..... |

I think BonnieJane was referring to Randy Hancock's signature: the universe is to big to just have life on one planet It should read: The universe is too big to just have life on one planet. |

@enigma I'd like to welcome you back to Seti. But, since I'm someone who sometimes forgets or doesn't bother to run a spell check on all my posts, may I respectfully suggest that it is in bad form to nitpick, especially about month old threads. |

Hi forum. Ive done my crunch time and plan on doing more when my upgrade is finshed. Ive donated my hard earned money to this cause and will someday see a whatever color emblem. No rush there, the cosmos is a big place! About the online store- Yes I like the hats, pens, mugs and glass art. With so many nice items in the store how do I decide?(not) I would really pay $$$ for a black logo'd color graph shirt with a "pocket" so I could have a safe place to stick my new fashionable Seti@home space pen. I know the people running the show at Seti@home are a special breed indeed. I think we should give a Business Merchandising Major the chance to improve our online store and incorporate special ordering custom apparel and expanding the inventory. Yes, that would entail returns and cost over-runs etc, but this option would allow Paying customers the chance to get the apparel "they" choose in whatever color/logo they Want, thereby making more money and resulting in better dressed humans. Having an online store armed with fancy custom made items is the only source for money besides begging for contributions. Where else can I buy authenic SETI@home logo'd merchandise but here? The online store should be a "Showcase" with a Huge WOW factor.... (Other items to consider might be- imprinted jogging/workout suits/sweats, pajamas, hooded sweaters(we all dont live in warm Cali), leather gloves, pc mice, mousepads, wrist rests, wall art, clip boards, tie tacks, sticky notes, cuff links, pins) What do you think? Until next time, OHIO WIREHEAD |

Aurora Borealis Thank you for welcoming! Not sure for how long, because the guy who sold me the PC seems like have saved extra few bucks for himself instead of putting a decent cooler for me. My CPU's temperature is constantly around 78-80C (172-176F) an up.. will see what happens. anyways as about your comment - yes, it was not totally appropriate and may be concidered as topic bumping. However.. (first of all, it was directed to BonnieJane) the fact that someone dares to moralize others about bad spelling, while she herself can not spell right. I find it to be offensive and funny. Pick the one that fits you. Wirehead Not a bad idea indeed. I would personally vote for some bumper-stickers and shot glasses! Not that I'd buy them myself.. the average salary in my country is around $560 per month - I rather choose to contribute my PC's computing power instead.. I just think those two items would be quite popular. Don't steal. Government hates competition. |
