Personal background |
I am a disabled magazine editor, a type-a personality forced to do nothing. I have always had an inate interest in many natural sciences, astronomy in particular. I participated in the "old" SETI (before it moved to BOINC) but was never successful at setting up the new program until I read a wiki from "ageless." Thanks, ageless. You've got what it takes. I have no idea what a wiki is, only that I sure liked this one! |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I run SETI@home to help! It is fantastic to feel useful even while trapped inside a body in chronic pain for which there is no cure. And what a grain of sand I am if my computer helps find extraterrestrial intelligence!
I think the project is important and that it should be advertised by word of keyboard, from each user to all those user's personal contacts. The more computers looking, the better the chances!
I suggest making the setup instructions as simple as ageless did in his wiki on the message board. I wasted years not particpating because I couldn't wade through the wordy, needlessly high-tech instructions for sequeing from SETI to BOINC. |
