Message 367658 - Posted: 15 Jul 2006, 3:28:01 UTC - in response to Message 367136.

The records for my computer listed on the web site shows that I get a lot more work units than I actually receive. I don't get any computation errors. For instance the record for 7-13-06 shows I downloaded 31 new work units - on the same day I only returned 8 and am currently working on 6. Where did they go? This only happens to my laptop. Most will eventually time out and be recorded as no reply. Anybody else have the same problem?

For how much time is your workunit cache adjusted? If it's set at 0.2 days you would have about 1/5 the daily return rate of units listed in Boinc manager as being crunched or ready-to-crunch. If things haven't changed in the past couple of months the cache time can be adjusted with "Connect every x.x days" in the Boinc Manager preferences, I believe.

I usually keep the cache set at two days - since I am on the road a lot and loose my connection frequently, this helps to keep me crunching numbers. As you can maybe see from the numbers below my computer named chuck has 6 times as many results listed as the other 5 compuers. Most of the results listed never even show up on the computer - they never even get started.

In the Windows Q&A forum i'm noticing quite a few machines returning invalid results generally with
exit code -1 (0xffffffff)

What does exit code -1 (0xffffffff) mean?
Anyone got a cause/cure for it?

Indeed, and thank you for not posting the full dump here. Rom Walton apparently thinks those huge dumps are needed, he's worked hard to make them appear.

But the error cause is very likely already diagnosed and the known fix will be in the next version of the stock application. See this post by Eric Korpela. That fix is already in the optimized versions by Chicken of Angnor (Simon Zadra), see his site for information and downloads.

Only you can use the link to your combined userid results, but results on your host 2173204 certainly include many download errors. That's a bit off-topic for this thread since it's not a computation error, but that doesn't make them less painful.

I now have four units which will not upload after yesterdays 'shutdown'. Are these now lost forever? And when will this stop happening?
