When boink starts up it fills up half of the screen for 20 sec. after that it goes to the taskbar. I put /s behind the exe file but this did not solve this problem. I know it is only an esthetic problem but still.

This is an on going bug, annoyance. I also added a start minimize in the property of the shortcut. It seems to go to the tray more often or maybe that's only wishfully thinking on my part.

Why not install as a service?

How about adding the option /s (or --systray) to boincmgr.exe?

If you are starting Boinc manager from the startup folder (or the registry 'run' key) so that Boinc starts when Windows starts then you may see an orphan Boinc button in the taskbar when Windows starts. This is due to a known bug in Windows with no solution.

A small program Delayrun can be used in the startup folder instead of the Boinc shortcut to start Boinc after a short delay. The theory is that Windows will complete its loading processes before Boinc starts thereby avoiding this bug and eliminating the orphan button in the task bar.

More info can be found in this thread.

A user suggested DELAYRUN.INI is:

3
C:\\Program Files\\BOINC\\boincmgr.exe
C:\\Program Files\\BOINC\\
/s

I might suggest a delay of 5 or more seconds just to be sure.

I installed the delay and it works better now. Although I still think the screen is filled for a rather long time but it always goes to the taskbar

In Windows (and Linux I think), you can choose to install BOINC as a service. This means it'll run even when you are not logged in to Windows.

3rd option in the installer.

Oh, and the screensaver and graphics do work in this configuration, but with a workaround.
