I think this would make a good project. If you agree, please e-mail the Project Manager listed on the site.

I agree.

I've had the site bookmarked for a while now.

I think I'll send that e-mail.

I e-mailed the Project Manager when I found out about it and here is his reply:

"We are struggling to find interest.
If you know anyone that could revamp our website that would be really
helpful, but at the moment things are going really slow,

Regards

Carl"

I wonder if the translator@home client will ask the user if it doesn't know a word or two :o)

I'll save my time for the serious and important basic scientific research opportunities. Something like this, IMHO, might eventually have a place if the project gains enough users that more work is required to keep them busy.
My goodness, considering an earth based receiver is highly unlikely to be sensitive enough to hear anything through the atmosphere I only do seti because it's a beautiful dream.

If you don't touch it, you can't break it.

While this seems like a worthwhile project I am afraid they will find it difficult to get around the copyright laws.

TO that end I'd rather try and find a cure for cancer...

Or they could hook up with Google, who are still planning on putting a whole database full of books for free on the net, for all to download. Yep, copyright howlers are trying to prevent this as well. ;)

They can always do what Distributed Proofreaders has been doing for years. There are a lot of older public domain books. They even have books you can proof in different languages.
