Thats a good question, one would assume that you don't get any credit for it, perhaps one of the developers will tell us...

If your WU expires and one or more results are needed to create a quorum of three or more similar results, a replacement WU is generated. If you can turn in your WU and it contributes to making the quorum, you will be credited anyways. If you turn in your result after a quorum is made and your WU has expired, you will get no credit for that WU. If you turn in a WU that has not expired, you will get credit even if a quorum has been made.

I know that. What I am asking is what if you can not turn it in due to the Seti system not taking it. I have a WU that expires on the 19th and been tring to send it in with no luck.

As the WU has already been done, you are going to to return it reagrdless, as I know of no way to prevent a Wu being returned once finished, other than resetting the project, and ditching ALL WU's done or not.

As no one else seems to be able to get work back at the mo, in any reliable manner, you stand a fair chance of getting the WU back before it's "too late" even if it's past the deadline. AFAIT.

I am having the same problem as everyone, but have noticed (and it might be a pure coincidence) that the only work that has been returned by me was "getting close to deadline", as if the server knows the WU is almost out of date, so accepts it, in preferance of other work that has plenty of time left.

In answer to the core quiestion, "what happens if the Wu goes out of date due to problems at Berkeley end," I dont actually know.

(Oh, + some Classic WUs too.)

Easiest solution would be to stop the validator. Everybody will have to wait a bit longer for credit, the RAC will go nuts for a while, but so what? At least everyone will get credit for WUs late because of server faults. If I remember correct, something like this happened in Feb. after the costant blackouts from the university power system.
