It runs on yogurt. A bike??? Here we say it runs on a rye bread engine, but yoghurt, why not? I guess the climate in southern California is more to yogurt than rye bread! "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me |

My problem isn't with the networking, that works just fine. I'm running FreeBSD on this box and cannot get BOINC to attach properly. SETI isn't getting the hostname or host IP address for whatever reason. I haven't worked with it for a few weeks now. But, I'm not going to give up on it. I will get it attached and crunching.... >:-) I am a Windows guy myself so I cannot help you at all, sorry. Ideas though....can you get it to get an IP address and go on the net? If so then the problem could be in the program and not the connection. |

By the way, in windows it takes a matter of a minute or 2 to install BOINC on the PC. I spent better than half a day installing BOINC on this one. Installations are definitely a long and drawn out process. And, there's several different types of installations.... >:-) CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? I use Mozilla in the KDE desktop environment. Nope, Konqueror was acting way to jittery. Example: I would leave a post here [not neccesarily this thread or board]. After posting, I would have to click the back button several times to get back just 1 or 2 pages. It also doesn't look as clean as Mozilla or Firefox. But, since I went and re-installed FreeBSD to get it right, I may try it again.... >:-) CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. I've never had that problem, and I've run MkLinux (KDE 2), YDL2.4 (KDE 2) YDL3 (KDE 3.3)... I'll soon be adding Kubuntu to the list, too. Still, there's a sort of... uhm... heresy (?) in using Mozilla when in K-town - Like using IE on Mac OS. Are you using Mozilla or FireFox? |

I haven't been able to install Firefox because I found out it needs an installation type I don't know of yet. The 2 I do use won't install it. A third, which I haven't completely figured out yet, won't install it either. Also still trying to get BOINC going on this box. Got it installed, but when attaching, SETI doesn't get the hostname or host IP address. Still working to resolve that.... I was playing with Konqueor the other day and saw one of the quirks I had forgotten. In Group, when displaying the messages, it shows multiple paragraphs in different fonts....
