My Boinc client was working fine until upgrading to 4.45.Got weird error mesages and it locked up.Then it said cannot connect. Then it said wrong password. Then it kept restarting the results over and over.So I went back to 4.19 which is working ok.Could you please give me a link to redownload 4.43?Clearly 4.45 has major problems as it messed my pc up big time.Weird red x messages and it froze my pc several times.

I sort of remember that we had to remove 4.19 before upgrading to the new version. That may be your trouble. Searching through some of the old post on 4.19 install may help.

I had trouble a while back with freezing caused by a conflict with my firewall.

But I did not have 4.19 on my pc.I was using version 4.43 and upgraded to 4.45.As it was went pear shaped I went back to 4.19 as 4.43 was not listed.

That's what mine did also. I said yes and then it froze. I made sure that it was configured for the "BOINC Manager for Windows" and the "boinc-gui" and it would still lock everything up. The weird thing was I am using the same internet security on a different machine and it works fine.

Any way back to your problem. I searched Goggle and I am not seeing it available. Someone around here will know were to get old versions though.

HI Rachel, could you describe the error messages you have seen? If it says "Can't connect", and the Boinc manager is empty, then click on "File" select Computer, then click OK (don't enter anything in the lines)

OK, that's better. Which OS are you using? Win XP, Win 98SE, etc.

Also, copy and paste the contents of the Stderr.txt that can be found in C:programfiles, boinc, slots (you need to find the slot with the Setiathome app in it. Then double click on the stderr.txt file, copy and paste the contents here.

I am using Windows Xp Pro second edition.
Looked at the slot thing but cannot find anything that says anything like seti@home app in it.

Inside the Slots folder, there should be a folder for each project that you are attached to. They will have labels like: 0, 1, 2, 3, etc. Check each of those for setiathome_4.18_win_intelx86.exe. From that folder open the stderr.txt file, then copy and paste it here

My suggestion:

Uninstall.

Delete Boinc directory.

Reinstall.
