I'd try resetting the project, it will cause it to delete all the projects files and re-download them again (you will lose any work units currently in your queue).

That only means the download was interrupted / broken. BOINC will try again later. Do you have a slow connection?

Negative. Message appears on BOINC Manager after "Finished download of setiathome_4.18_windows_intelx86.exe".

All began last night, after 4.18 was available for download...

Maybe a broken download of seti_418.exe is stuck somewhere in a caching proxy on your way to berkeley and you always receive the broken copy. Normally that sorts out after some time...

madmac has started a similar thread and I posted there as well.

THe exe and pdb started downloading at the same time. the exe finishes and then starts and finishes downloading a WU. Before the pdb file finishes the connection to berkeley was dropped and the WU errors out. This has happened since the inception of Boinc for me. Resetting will fix it but seems drastic. perhaps a little patience is what's required.

You aren't downloading the file setiathome_4.18_windows_intelx86.pdb
That's where the problem lies. Without this symbol file you get the MD5 error.

But how to solve it so quickly? Maybe that someone can email it to you?

MappAo, Do you have Seti WU on your work page? If not, or not many, then go to the "Project" page, highlight Seti, then click on "Reset" and then confirm. You should immediately see it start to download the Exe and Pdb files all over, and maybe even get some WUs.

The exe file either did not download correctly, or when it did, the signature for that file did not agree with the server's signature. This is one of the safety measures in place to ensure that you are not getting corrupted or compromised execuatable files.

Again, this is a "normal" type of error that will happen when the servers are heavily loaded and packets exchanged get lost (or folded, spindled, or mutilated). It should correct itself with another download attempt. I know it is working as several of my machines have the new executable already...

The matter is that I can download it "manually" from "http://setiboincdata.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah/download_fanout/setiathome_4.18_windows_intelx86.exe", but even if I copy it into the same directory of the .pdb, overwriting the same named one with wrong size, when I reset the project I still have the same error described previously.

I think my only chance is to wait until tomorrow and see if something change.

This might be a longshot..
Because its an .exe file, could a antivirus prog mess it up while
downloading it?
I go back to my corner now.. :P

edit: more thoughts.. a quiet virus attach itself to it..

Paolo,
Do you have any download accelerator like GetRight installed?
Several times I have found thses type programs can slightly corrupt .EXE files.
If you have any such program make sure you don't use it.
