Just installed 4.41 on my two dual p3's at home. So far no problems, though one of them is down to its last two WU's, one CPDN, one SETI, and no sign of asking for more work. Well, almost no sign. I did get this in its log:

5/15/2005 11:38:56 AM||May run out of work in 0.50 days; requesting more
5/15/2005 11:38:56 AM||schedule_cpus: must schedule

But no attempt to contact any project. We shall see...
-----
Edit -- I'm beginning to think that with this new scheduler, we should be upping the cache amount. I used to have it set to 2 days, but Einstein forced me to cut back lest I run past the deadlines. Waht does everyone else think?

I think a developer started with 4.38 as a base (instead of 4.40) and made the "improvements" and released it as 4.41, that's what I think.

PS. I just switched over the puter my wife broke to 4.41 from 4.26 and I can't use "project Update" on it either.

Project update on 4.40 works no problem for me.

I resisted the urge to force it to ask for work, and it seems to have done so by itself... like it's supposed to! Got 4 new WU's from PPAH.

Set my cache to 1 day now, we'll see how that works out.

It's most likely like 4.38. Updates only work on projects with positive long term debt.

Upload/Download bug isn't fixed in v4.41... Neither is "Connection Failed".

Another one to report here is the failure of the CC to resume from a "Suspend"ed state (menu option) when either of the two "Run Always" or "Run Based on Preferences" options are selected from the GUI. This has been going on from v4.38 or so if I remember rightly & still rears it's ugly head in v4.41. Just thought I'd let you lot know...

Anyhow... For now... I've bopped back down to v4.35 until all this mess can be sorted out. What would be handy however, is a more detailed list of fixes either as part of the bugfix list on the dev download section, or as a text file or something, which might go some way towards providing a list of what bugs have been addressed between these revisions.

I don't know where you are getting the "will still be crunched by setiathome version 4.09" bit from though.
Assuming you are running one of the optimized hosts, I guess this information must be comming from the app_info.xml - AFAIK one version had entries for both 4.09 app and 4.11 to prevent loss of outstanding 4.09 work in the cache.
</blockquote>
As I can see in the tab "Work" all my WU's for S@H, even the last one downloaded, are linked to the application S@H v4.09. Therefore, "will still be crunched by setiathome version 4.09".
I am using the downloaded and regular Boinc v4.30.

As you had S@H v4.11 my assuming is that Boinc v4.41 downloads WU's with the S@H v4.11 application.

And if the version numbers between the platforms are really accurate. I mean, is the Macintosh 4.37 identical to the windows version 4.37? Or is it really 4.41 that is lying about its age?

But I agree, a version description would be nice. And I say this even though I watch the CVS mailing list and in theory know what the changes are.

Is there any page where I could still download v4.35?

I might have mis-understood your question.

But, the log snippet you posted clearly says "Resuming computation for result 19dc04aa.1338.15010.786080.191_1 using setiathome version 4.11".
The only s@h app I know of with version = 4.11 are the optimized windows binaries. The log also says that you are 'resuming' - which means 4.11 was running before this time.

Dunno... I tend to keep recent CC installers on the HDD for this very eventuality, but if you send me an e-mail... I can attach a ZIP with the Winx86 installer and mail it back. [garethlock@yahoo.com]

This should also go some way to stemming the tide of "v4.3x/4x is acting strange" posts here. If the bug these downloaders have found doesn't appear in the fixed list, then there's no point in downloading the fix. If you know what I mean.... Less confusion all around by providing a little more info. Let's face it... Most software like this that's available for download has a comprehensive "history" list somewhere accessable on the download page. For me it saves a hell of a lot of headaches!!

You can get all old CC at
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/

Ignore versions 4.5x and 4.6x they are out of sequence numbering.

Hello MikeSW17,

The "Resuming computation for result 19dc04aa.1338.15010.786080.191_1 using setiathome version 4.11" is coming from your post.
Therefore, I'm supposing it happens on your host, and from there comes my question if Boinc v4.41 downloads S@H application v4.11.
I am still using CC 4.30 and, as posted in my post I have only S@H v4.09.

A quick glance at the Applications page shows SAH 4.09 to be the latest Berkeley release for the Win platform. Anything other than that is assumed to be a roll-it-yourself version. This is an open source project after all.

BOINC v4.41 doesn't download S@H v4.11 as far as I can tell. Well, not from the alpha site anyways.

No, it doesn't download 4.11 WUs. As I understand it, using the anonymous platform functionality, you are simply calling the 4.11 .exe to process the WU, instead of the default 4.09 .exe.

You're absolutely right, Thierry.
I hadn't realised you had quoted me as part of your question.
I hate this quoting system - it's so unclear. Lets go back to the good old Greater-than sign.
