#1 After reaching the top 2% of all users I promptly went and bought 8,... P-4 computers, plus the pile of other junk I have been running ( anything less than 2 GHZ is junk in my book) and since such purchase some 2 weeks ago, Ive had nothing but problems.. the server is down.. seti file won't open.. bla.. bla.. and now I downloaded the BIONIC program, and I can't get it to do anything... nadda.. nothing at all.. Im not the smartest tool in the shed, but I know this, I've spent lotsa $$ to participate in this hobby, and now, for the last 5 days or so, it's all MONEY WASTED... Classic SETI will not connect to the server and for the life of me, I cant get this BIONIC thing to work, or figure out how to make it work. I need help!!!! Heck, Ive even f-disked a puter, reloaded 2000 pro, and bypassed my LAN, to make sure it wasnt a problem on my end. After a clean install of win 2000 pro, and hooking directly to my cable modem, I still get the same thing.. cannot connect, Ive un-installed classic SETI 10 times and to no avail, I get the sine in screen but no work units... I can get to the web site.. do all the rest.. but can't crunch a work-unit. I also downloaded BIONIC and all it does is sit there.. Ive added projects to no avail. Please sombody help me. IF your computer savy, and have the patientce to help me.. PLZ e mail me and Ill exchange fone #'s with you and I seek a fone call and a walk through to see if I have it all set up right. The instructions are confusing and Im about to poor a Mt. Dew in these puters..help.. a talk through to make sure Ive got things right is what I think I need...
PLZ,,.. e mail me a fone # or add me to msn messenger.. under_rush_2112@hotmail.com

No matter what the server status says the data connection to SETI is down, meaning no uploads or downloads of work units. You'll have to wait until Monday for the Berkeley people to get back into their lab and fix the problem.

Dear Disgusted
I empathise with your plight....Seriously Rush, I run 1 computer with classic seti, and 1 with bionc. I was going to convert the classic seti computer over when I reached 5,000 wu's. (it's now abut 200 shy). Both Seti's have been very spotty in the last 2 weeks or so. Connection problems, right now neither computer will connect. I'm wondering if they found intelligent life and don't want anyone else to know so they shut down claiming "computer problems"...I now think I will convert my classic seti computer to Einstien@home instead
Seriously, don't give up. Mt dew won't help, a pint of beer does wonders.

After loading Boinc did you try to attach to a project?
If not that is why it is not working, other than that the cable is out to Berkeley. Not ONLY must you install the Boinc software, you also must attach to a project and enter the info that was sent to you by email.
Each project run under Boinc has its own sign-up and seperate data to enter. Einstein is up and running now.
Here is a site that has all the DC projects:

YES.. I activated the account via the info sent by e mail.. YES I THINK i attached a project ( SETI).. and nothing is happening..In Classic seti I have some 3500 WU's completed... and joining the old seti was SO EASY.. I guess Im a total IDIOT cause all I see this BOINC thing has done is complicate the process to the point where I cant tell up from down..I have poked and probed around as much as I can and I cant find the graphics.. or anything other than the basic boinc work list that says Boinc manager and to further comment, I see only 1 person has tried to help me figure this stuff out.. the rest are more concerned how I spelled stuff.. Thanks alot for the TEAM WORK.
AS OF NOW.. I still have 14 computers that cant connect to server ( classic SETI ) and 2 that the Boinc thing floats around sayen its IDLE... guess it doesnt help to just throw money at it. Think Ill donate all my computer power to some spamming company or to distribute porno.. Id probably get more help getting the ducks in a row to work...

The (very good) manual for Boinc is the BOINC Powered Projects Documentation by Paul D. Buck and the FAQ therein.
Gruesse vom Saenger

For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki

Our Internet link through Cogent went down at around midnight UTC on March 18/19. This is being looked at with an unknown time to fix. In the meantime, data service (upload/download) is unavailable.

God I'm So Dumb,
