Since a lot of you probably use Lavasoft Ad-Aware to protect yourselves from spyware, you will be suprised to learn that Lavasoft has removed the detection of the well known Adware bundler WhenU, without notifying it's custumers! This is another reason to take a look at some other progs like Microsoft AntiSpyware or Spybot. Find more info about this crap at: vitalsecurity.org. |

Actually, I run Ad Aware, Spybot and MS AntiSpyware. Each program will take up the slack of the others. . <a href="http://www.brainsmashr.com"><img src="http://www.brainsmashr.com/signature.gif"><img src="http://brainsmashr.com/boinc/counter_big.php?id=305369&project=seti&ctx=white&cva=red&cbo=white&cbg=black&linethickness=2"></a> |

There's no reason to sell people out like that without any warning. Lavasoft knows how much their customers value privacy. Alex |

There was in no way any attempt by me to ridicule Summer by saying she could clarify what she meant by anti-hacker since we were discussing certain Adware removal progs. The thing you said about me trying to make Summer or anyone else afraid of hacking attempts by me was a little overdone. |

So I don't have > to be afraid that you're suddenly inside my computer? :-) > Afraid, not at all. I was only trying to understand if Summer was referring to "anti-hacker" as an anti-spyware program or not. And if not, discuss why it would be possible to get around such an anti-hacker prog, as has been in discussed in previous posts about firewall shortcomings. |

But many people feel very secure behind their firewall, so maybe I'll > have myself a router! ;-) > It's not that a firewall is a bad thing, far from it, it's that many common firewalls are easy to breach through various means such as tunneling and packet fragmentation. A router with a built-in firewall would not be that much more secure than having a software one. Being carefull with your email is the best thing you could do, since a hacker could install a forwarding Trojan through email to open-up connections from your system without being detected that easy. Check out this site, "evileyesoftware.com", to find out about a Hacker Command Module (RAT) called Optix Pro to see what I mean. |
